So the early battery stream was mostly about trolling, I'm running an 1198, 898 and two power poles off my crank battery. Started running my livewell right off the bat sunday morning and had almost dead crank battery early in the day. I replace every year, what I'm curious about is does anybody know of a combo battery that has cold "marine" crankin amps of 1000 or more and reserve of 200+? I want the biggest baddest thing I can find.

The Sears PM-1 or the big Cabelas. Both are AGM. The Cabelas battery weighs a good it more.

I have a stay n charge charger on my boat, if your on the trolling motor all day it's not much help but if you make a couple of small runs each day which most do , It will recharge the on board batteries while you run/idle which in turn allows you to get away with smaller/less weight batteries. We all have days like that, the www.stayncharge.com just helps you out while on the water. Its pretty cheap backup and hopefully won't make you late for a weigh in and in turn loose a check

The main battery has all those accessories running on one battery!! Sadly most boats are setup the same way. So I added an additional large size 29 deep cycle to my setup to run the accessories and livewells. Sams club has them for $80. I wanted to leave that starting battery just for the motor. If you choose to do this you can down size the cranking battery to just what the manufacture of the motor needs and that might save you the space needed to add a battery.
I had a little room to add the battery in the boat and its the smartest thing I ever did. Before I added the battery I had a situation that I wasn't making any runs using the big motor and I was using the livewells and electronics a lot. So the starting battery went so low it would not start the motor. I used a trolling motor battery to jump the motor but it didnt really work very well and I was lucky to get the motor started. I ran back to the ramp and had to end my day early. But felt really lucky to have gotten back to the ramp.
I have seen guys put extra batteries in other compartments in the boat besides the main area in the back. If you use a sealed battery its pretty easy. Then its just a matter of running the wires.
If youre looking for a huge battery to run all your accessories youre going to pay big dollars. So if you have the room just get two batteries and spend a lot less and have a really great setup without any worries.

Can you run the batteries in parallel? That way I can still use 1 bank on my charger to cahrge both batteries.

But to answer your question you need a size 31 dual purpose battery and that will do it for you. But the dual purpose gives up amp hours for more cranking amps. But add a battery alarm to your electronics to tell you when the battery gets below 11.6 volts. 11.6 volts is about the point where you might have issues. try these sites http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|328|51495|306219&id=1158248 http://www.batteryfaq.org/

I had my main die on me and i didn't have jumper cables, but even when i did get a hold of sum my TM batteries couldn't start it so i got a jump from my buddy. I am thinking about getting a 5 - 10 watt Solar panel for my battery i did the calculations and that trickle charge should be enough to counter act the draw from my electronics and as long as i am using my live well timer should help keep me from running into problems.
the 5W one is only Overall dimensions: 12" W x 18" L x 1" H and about $50.
Either that or a battery jumper box.

I had the same problem running 2 LCX 38, 997,2 power poles oxygenator and I run my aereators in manual could only get about 5 hrs and my battery would start dying or be dead. Went to a 31 Sears Die Hard Platinum have had no problems. I beleive the reserve is 205, and cranking is 1250ish. Battery is about $270
Interstate has a 29 series that actually has 220 reserve but I only got 6months out of. I am usaully on the water about 14-16 days a month.

I don't want to screw with jumper cables (did that this weekend) and with the pumps for the powerpoles in the back there is no more room for another battery...also no more room for more chanrgers

Sears Platinum has a 3 year non-prorated warranty, Optima a 2 year non-rated. Both are about the same cost and the Sears is a lot easier found.
