A few years ago while fishing on Lake Grapevine, I saw one of those car/boat hybrids. I saw this guy driving a car down the boat ramp and I though, "What in the world is this guy doing?" Then he just drove right inot the lake and the car floated up and just kept going. He drove it around the shoreline for a while and then back up the boat ramp.

Casey, I know what your talking about. I about flipped the first time I saw that car parked on the island. I bet I stared at that thing for 10 min. before I realized that it wasn't the beer, there's really a car parked out there smile

back in the early 80's i had a 16 ft ski boat with a 50 johnson on back.mostly i fished lavon in the trees (just south of brockdale park ) i used to always launch at east fork and open up the motor all the way across toward the trees , one summer morning about 20 or 30 minutes before the sun rose i was halfway ,in open water mind you when i heard the sound of a cat meowing . the sound was getting faint and my curiosity got the best of me so i slowed down and turned the boat around as i neared now i heard "help help " ill be darned if it wasnt a dude in cut off shorts shivering on top of a sunken tree branch ! paranoa now beats out curiosity , not knowing what to think . so i eased up closer making sure to leave at least 20 ft from him and my boat and asked him what was he doing out here ??? he said he was swimming the night before and realized he was too tired to get back so he was forced to drift till he got to the tree . the poor guys was complaining about how cold he was . i asked him at what area he wanted me to drop him off and he said he didnt care just as long as it was land , i think it was collin park marina or thereabouts i dropped him of . he thanked me as he knelt down and kissed the concrete boat ramp . that a was weird trip . also one morning while bank fishing with 2 freinds at 175 the fourth bridge at cedar creek this mexican guy came up to me and asked me in spanish if i had seen the man who drove the red truck . signaling behind me . i turned and looked at the truck and said no " ive beeb here watching my lines ,he said because he was throwing a cast net close to me and now hes gone and his bucket and hat are in the canal floating . hmmm that got me up and we walked to where his brand new casting net was on the concrete bank . so i said maybe he went to p around the corner so we walked over to look for him and nothing , as we walked back i said this is weird . we got back to the net and i noticed about a 6 inch skid mark in the algae so i called 911 after 5 firefighter tied to a roped dredged the area for a while he was found dead . the guy was apparently getting shad for a days fishing and had his plans changed for the rest of his life . it was sad to see them bring up the body so even tho it was still early we lost interest in fishing and went back home

I was fishing at Bastrop last year and had a deer swim through the area where the fish were schooling. I caught one not ten feet from the deer.

A few years back, my son and I were fishing the Red River in La. We were way back in a clear area and I heard a loud airplane. We looked up and saw a C5 with the space shuttle sitting on its back. That was a neat thing to see and it looked like it was about 50 ft from us.

I used to live in CA and would hike in to the Golden Trout Wilderness Area several miles to fish in Kern Canyon. I was on a rock outcropping fishing a run about 50 feet above a washing machine/rock grinding rapid when two fighters burned through the canyon on a training run. My heart tried to get out of my chest and I almost fell into the river which would have been bad in that spot (the "Killer" Kern drowns more people than any other river in the US).

My boss told a story about how they crashed a stealth fighter up there in the '80s.

About 10 years ago there was a Blue Footed booby at lake Bastrop. They normally live on Cal. and Mexico coast. Nobody ever knew how he got there. Was one lonely looking bird. Wonder what ever happened to him?

As someone who was in the aerospace industry it's a sight that will stick in my memory for ever.
I was fishig on Nac that morning also with my dad and a buddy, it was wierd because about 3-5 minutes after it went across the sky pieces started falling all around us, by this time we had found out what was going on but about an hour later we ran into a guy who thought he was going crazy when the stuff started hitting around his boat.

_Hey Catt and Bass All Star: I was fishing lake Tyler with Skeeter,Weekender, and Texas Mo, when the Space Shuttle broke up. That was spooky...very strange! eek

_We were facing South fishing docks with tall pines on a ridge above us. We did'nt see the Vapor Trail, Explosion, or Fire balls..just heard One Big Loud Booom then several smaller Bangs.

_I thought it was TnT Charges from strip mining. Shortly after a series of Booms we heard what sounded like blast debries comming back down in the trees off in the distance.

_Weekender's Wife called him on his cell and he told us about the Shuttle Disaster...very Sad news. Then we realized what all the racket in the woods around us was. We did'nt see anything hit the water around us.

_On the way home there were several Hiway Patrol and National guard vehicles headed up hiway 155. Turns out several pieces of the debries were recovered very near where we were fishing.

I remember when the stealth fighter crashed! I grew up in Bakersfield. The military showed up within 30 minutes of the crash and locked the area down. Nobody got in or out for 2 days. Of course that was before it officially existed.

Golden Trout Wilderness is used regularly for training runs by aircraft from China Lake and Edwards. I've heard stories of strange craft going through there as well as super low level runs just at subsonic speeds. Nothing will wake you up like a military jet doing 500 at 100 feet AGL! laugh

I was fishing with a buddy under the mustang bridge for crappie and another boat pulled up.... (not much room) we were down wind and I swear Cheech and Chong were hiding in the their livewell.

Funny because they were discussing how far of a walk it was to a gas station to get food

Believe me I was taking deeeep breaths the whole time nuts

Didn't happen to me, but I heard the story on a fishing show I watched several years ago.
There was a guy on the lake nobody really liked, he would but in on fishing spots and do stuff to irritate the other fishermen. There were about four boats fishing topwater, for big stripers I think, They were all catching plenty fish, when this guy pulls up in his boat (small boat with a pull start enging). He makes a cast before his boat even stops. He is working a zara spook or something long like that. His first cast he gets hooked up with a huge fish. He wants everybody to look at him so he yells and sets the hook again. I guess everybody wasn't looking, he yells again and jerks the pole again. The lure comes out of the fish's mouth and flies right toward the guy and hooks in his lip and pulls his head sideways and the other hooks settles nicely in his back. So now he is trying to get his motor started with his cheek nailed down to his shoulder. That would be pretty funny to see.

Not weird but cool. I was crappie fishin on a private lake last year, doing pretty good w/ minnows. Along with the crappie I caught five are six nice bass, smallest 2 lbs biggest 6.7 on the minnows. Now the cool part. I had just hung a crappie and was reeling it in when out of the corner of my eye I saw a big shadow moving in about three feet under the water I kept bringing the crappie in and had it about 3/4 out of the water ( 10 or 12 inch crappie) when the shadow that I saw came up out of the water and swallowed that crappie whole then went down and broke me off like it was nothing, with my crappie. It was a bass and it dwarfed the 6.7 that I had caught a little while before. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen.
