Are maps available at marinas around LOP that show detailed boat lanes, topography, creek channels, etc? Where would be the best place to pick one up?

thanks Pinesdabber, I hear the run from Johnson up to the 155 bridge is tricky for a newcomer to the lake and I'd hate to have an early morning meet and greet with a stump.

maybe we would be better off to run up to the ramp around the bridge and just put in there?

i invite other pines fisherman to chime in and correct me if i am wrong, but here is my info on running up to 155...

when you pull out of johnson's and turn right, stay to the right 3rd of the lake as you travel north...don't run wide open unless you know where some of the stumps are, but the right hand 3rd of the lake is ok...you will come to a couple of trees that are taller than the rest, off the edge of a point...go BETWEEN these trees, and you can stay on pad as you do it...keep a straight line and you will come to the actual boat run. you will see it, and it has signs on it that say "Jack Hudson Boat Lane"...the lane itself zig zags across the lake so just be careful, as there are some pretty sharp turns in it. when you go under the 155 bridge, stay between the boat lane markers...

and i think local wal-marts have the topographic maps as well as academy..

Exactly take a right outta johnson and straight shot to boat lane and on this run and only this run if you dnt see any stumps there's not any and for the first timer I would stay close enough to the boat lane poles that ur boat is spraying water on them

The best map you can get is a martin map. They have them for sale at east texas sonar in longview.

Take right out of johnson keep timber to your left. When you come to the mountain with a point stay in the middle. There will be large trees on the right by the point and some small stumps sticking up on the left, stay in the middle.Head straight for about a half mile and you will find the poles. It is easy.

This time of year, I'm sure you'll see someone running that path. You'll see the two taller trees off the point mentioned earlier. Most folks run between those trees and continue straight down the lake.

There is only one row of poles with little signs pointing to the side of the pole you need to run. Unless you're meeting another boat, stay close to those poles. Once you do it once, you'll have it down.....

Running north, shouldn't you keep the poles on your left?
