My son,( who as really sterting to get into bass fishing), my buddy and I have been going to one of my favorite ponds lately.We have been catching the snot out of 2 and 3 #'s and a few 4's and 5's. i live about 35 minutes from this place and my buddy is around the corner from it. He called me yesterday morning( He went without me!!LOL)He said he had caught a biggun and thought it would go 8-10. He text me a pic and was thinking no way it was 8-10. My son and i loaded up with the scales and headed that way. Well, cell phone pics give fish no justice

It was a good one.Any guesses on weight. After several decent fish my son lands what was close to his PB

Looks good. Move your hand back behind the anal fin and that belly will drop down more and show her "booty" off!

If you don't have a scale with you measure the length and girth of the bass. Write it down and when you get home you can get a close approximation of its weight using this formula:

BASS - Weight Calculation Formulas
Length� x Girth � 1,200 = weight
(length x length x girth � 1,200) = weight

It's got a big mouth on it! It's really hard to guess based on photo angles and how it looks with a little kid versus an adult. My best guess is 5 pounds even. Anyone else? I'm a little confused though- you mention you and your son loaded up with scales and headed out there... did you not have a scale? do you know the weight and just want to see if we are good guessers?

We did bring digital scales.It was 24" long.Just seeing if yall are good guessers!!!

I'm not sure if it makes 10 but I wasn't there so not saying its not, but i'm guessing somewhere near the 8lb range. Your son looks like he's having a blast and great fish by him. Keep him fishing!

Cant help myself....i keep telling myself to go find the fish on RH, but i just know that i can be a cast away from a DD at that pond... and the fish was only on a rope long enough for me to get there with scales and measurements

6.5 lbs sounds about right... with the pics that I have to work with...
