Could be 2.5". That actually sounds right. I just remember it being bigger and I was too lazy to get up and go outside to check.

As far as mileage, I usually get about 17-18 hwy (75-80 mph) and 16 or so in town. I really don't notice much difference. If I only go 55-60 in traffic or something, I will get 20. Sounds like this is a common problem, but frustrating. If they tell me I have a 26 gallon tank, I want the computer to be set for that.

There is only 2 times a fuel gauge is accurate, empty and full. The manufactor actually has the fuel gauge read Empty with a couple gallons to spare so we won't run out of fuel.

I don't own a ford but like someone else said the 52 gallon titan tanks are the way to go if you hate having to stop and refuel every other town you go through. Theres plenty of room under there for a bigger tank but the auto companies are trying to save a dime with these little tanks.

I drove my Tundra til it was out of gas on purpose, you can get 26 gallons in it but they give you a 5-6 gallon buffer til you are really empty as opposed to what the miles to empty reads. I am sure thats whats going on with this 2011 F-250 , the car manufacturers dont think your smart enough to know when to fill up!

Diesel foams and if you are stopping when the pump clicks your going to be atleast 3-4 gallons shy of actual full. If I put diesel in my ford real slow and until I actually see liquid and not foam at the fuel fill line, I put exactly what the manual says, which is 30 gallons (2001 F-250).

Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

Interesting take on the diesel foaming. I'll consider that. A lot of times I use the 18 wheeler pumps because they are so much faster so that could have something to do with it.

On a side note, anyone know what kind of options there are on the 2011's from an exhaust standpoint? I have enjoyed the fact that it's so quiet, but I also enjoyed the nice rumble that came from my '05 w/ the glasspack and 6" tip. I don't know if I'd do any exhaust work on this one or not, but wanted to see what the option might be. Does the filter system prevent you from being able to do anything?

Yes the "big truck pumps" fill up 2-3 times faster so that means for fuel and more foam. I purposely try to fill my work truck and personal truck up, wait for the pump to kick off and come back and top it off. You can get alot more in the tank when the foam settles. Your exaust will not sound like it did on your 05 just due to all the emmissions that are on the new trucks. Have you gotten a programmer or chip yet?

OK I'll try that next time. I haven't gotten a chip yet. We've had bully dog on our '04, '05, and '08 Ford diesels and they are magic. I am hesitant because this is a brand new pickup and don't want to mess it up. Any thoughts on programmers for the new Ford's?

Stupid emissions.... cost us more money in DEF and take away that good ole rumble we all know and love.

I work at a Ford dealership and can confirm that you are not supposed to alter the exhaust system in any way. We have a truck in the shop now getting all new exhaust becuase the owner put aftermarket on it. Has to be like it is from the factory for the DPF and everything to work correctly.

*EDIT* From what I understand he just had a different exhuast tip than the factory one. which is still a no-no.

My dealer suggested I weld the tube into the reciever so you do not loose it when you take your hitch out...
