John, You're perfectly safe going to Fork with your Grandson and Father. I used to live on the lake. Fished a lot during the Spring. There are a ton of boats, but plenty of water to go around. Most folks are beating the bank, so just fall in behind them and fish. If you run into rude fisherman, just head out and find another place to fish if you don't want a confrontation. Also, no one single guy prop washed another boat with two guys in it. I've NEVER seen that on any lake I've fished. On a ligher side, I was on Wright Patman a couple of weeks ago and ran into some really shallow water. I had my motor trimmed way up running through mud basically. I noticed my moter wasn't pumping water any longer, so as soon as I got to a little deeper water, I hit the reverse pretty hard to unplug the intake. It worked like I expected, but I prop washed myself with a nice wall of water.

I fish Fork every weekend and have run into nothing but good people out there. The 'dillweed/decent human ratio' is far worse in the real world than it is on Lake Fork.

Don't let it bother you...lots of really tough people behind a keyboard. Most of them would carp there pants if you mean mug them. Take the family and have fun. On that lake this time of year the next bite may be a fish of a lifetime.

The only time you should stay away from Fork is during the Big Bass splash. It was the worst fishing experience of my life. There is no word I can think of to describe all that madness.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

Like the other guys were saying...
I doubt anyone would inflict harm on another person for getting to close to them BUT I can't stand when people have no courtesy or respect for me or other fisherman. Yes it is a unwritten rule, but come on give me a break, no one has to tell you not to get super close to another fisherman when he is in a spot. I don't care if you are a novice or not you don't do that. No one has to tell you when you are golfing to not hit the ball on the green when the other group ahead of you are still putting... there is no law against it but it's something you don't do.
I do get tired of people pulling up right next to me when I'm out on the water... There are other spots. Pick one with no one else in it.
I'm sure you are a nice man John but there are certain things in life that take common sense to figure out. Boating and fishing courtesy are one of those things... No one should have to tell anyone not to pull right up on someone fishing a spot.
If you can't figure those COMMON SENSE things out than you don't need to be out on the water or maybe one day a crazy person will do something very irrational.

take the family, maybe one in one thousand do stupid things like that, not likely you would run into anyone like that. Sorry there are people like that for sure, most of us fish for fun, relaxing and enjoyment, not to be big shots or to harrass others for sure.

A buddy told me that he was going to start wearing a Speedo to fish in during the spring, that way no one will fish close to him.
I still laugh at that comment all the time when someone gets close to me while I'm fishing. It keeps me from getting mad because I would love to see the facial expressions from the other boat.

John, you've been a fan of TFF for a long time. You should know better than to let a couple of jackasses turn you off to all of the good folks on the TFF.
Just because Obama is the President, doesn't mean we all voted for him. You know?

He took way too many rifle butts to the head to be worth a darn to anybody and she's a, well...I bet she can wash a mean dish. Obama was the only choice.

Defending my main man Obama on the TFF is kinda like wearing a dress to a Westboro Baptist Church protest - it doesn't go over all that well but it sure is fun.
