I fished in the cove on the southwest corner of the lake that is full of lily pads in the summer. I got there late at 1:30 and there were about 6 boats in the cove. There wasn't much action previously for the boaters.

I ended up with 8 fish up to 17 inches. All I fished was TR in somewhat natural colors. Pumpkinseed lizard = 3 fish
Blue fleck power worm = 2 fish
Tequila sunrise worm = 2 fish
Cotton candy worm = 1 fish

Caught all fish fairly close to shallow water. With none caught out in the trees where the boats were hanging. They are probably going for lunkers--but I figure if you aren't getting bit, you aren't catching any lunkers. The bite was very subtle and interestingly not a single fish hit the worm on the initial fall. I sometimes only fish the initial fall, wait, and two or three twitches. Yesterday, that period produced no fish--but I would have gotten in a lot more presentations fishing in that manner.

Strike was subtle enough that a turtle nibbling on the lizard looked like a bass strike. Hooked and landed him, about 14 inches and probably 5 lbs. A nearby boater thought it was pretty funny when my good fish had a shell. Thank God I wasn't whooping it up when I hooked him.

Same place, mostly same tactics. Nothing from 1:30 until 4:15. Then from 4:15 until 7:00 20 inches, 19 inches, 18 inches, 15 inches, 8 inches. Every fish caught on cotton candy lizard, 3/16 oz weight. I fished a lot of colors and that is the only color on which I caught fish. I did have another fish about 5 lbs get hooked and then off which hit green violet lizard which is similar to cotton candy.

Problem with much of the fishing was the number of boats. At one time, I could have cast my lizard into three different bass boats. After I caught one of the big fish, one of the boats came right over and tied on top of the spot I had just been fishing. rolleyes It is one thing if they come over and fish the same spot from a different angle, but to park the boat on top of the spot is counter productive.
