Launched from Copano Pier yesterday and got on the water about 9am and headed for Lap reef. I fished all sides and nothing was hitting there. motored over to redfish point and nothing there either. Trailered the boat over to Redfish Bay Marina and launched from there headed towards California hole. I saw lots of boats but nobody was catching anything. Finally found one drop off between two islands and pulled one trout on a jig head and pumpkinseed/chartreuse jerkshad. And that was it! It was very windy and hard to keep the boat steady for a second. water temps seemed to stay in 66-67 degree range.

SE 5-10 mph
... Texas bays subsurface structure is built from prdominatley SE wind ands wave action.
... look at our coastal oak trees, see the bend in them all leaning the same way ?
In most cases, - same deal with subsurface reefs and structure.

Man up. Fight the GOOD fight.

se is fine, almost any speed, but e wind is the kiss of death, might as well stay ashore and find something else to do. when fishing around st. jo, aransas, mustang island, it's easy to find cover with fish.

A true - light - east wind will push serious trout green water into Cedar Bayou.
Once - a day or so before a Hurricane back in the late 90's or early 2000's I saw BLUE water in Cedar Bayou.
It was an awesome sight and the fishing was just as awesome.

Limited out yesterday afternoon on reds in less than 30 minutes wading the bay side of Mustang Island. Had to let another slot red go plus one oversized as it is too difficult to mess around trying to tag a 32" red in 25 mph winds waist deep in water! 6 keeper trout. Wind was blowing bad enough that could only fish casting south/southeast. Heading out again pretty soon and but wind may be worse today.
I make it through the day by dreaming of my next trip to Port A.

Plans are to head down tommorrow. Does'nt sound like the wind is going to lay any time soon. Tues. forecast 20-30 mph. Good to know you can make something happen! Sounds like it's been blowing for a while, heard there is lots of water in the bay.

Winds were terrible this past weekend. Got a couple hard bumps, but not much. 1 keeper trout and fought thewind back home. Nice to know mustang island can be productive on days like that.

We had limits of reds again yesterday but had to work much harder. One keeper trout and flounder also. Wind is a b*tch. Not only makes it very difficult to work the bait and but you cannot see the bottom to know where the grass and sand are. This morning I had two keeper trout and only three slot reds. The other two in our crew got a later start and are not back yet. Going out solo again early tomorrow morning and fishing a different area. Fish have been extremely shallow and am normally catching fish hundreds of yards behind the fast walking chest deep wade fisherman. If you are wading past your knees you have walked right past the fish.
I make it through the day by dreaming of my next trip to Port A.
