Rapids they are referring to are roughly 2 miles (give or take) upstream from the AIRPORT BOAT RAMP. You gotta put in there. If you launch at 59, try going downstream about a mile (give or take). you will go through an area with some high dirt banks, and, on your right, you will see a small creek that feeds into the river. Try there. I've pulled many whites and crappie from that creek mouth in the past.
good luck. John Turbeville Ingram, Tx

Went to upper guad yesterday for a few hours. Put in at#11. No whites at all but eventually found some crappie spawning about a foot deep. Both males and females. Where are the whites??

Dustin, how far up from the ramp were you catching those crappie? Just mileage wise? I know plenty of areas to catch them (so not looking for honey holes), but was just wondering how far up they are with the higher river levels. I'm thinking about heading that way Friday. Did you go all the way up to the rapids for the whites? Kayaking?

I am usually in a kayak but Saturday I was in a boat. We went upriver a few miles with no luck so we went back downriver of #11 a mile or so and that's where we found the crappie in some shallow flats. We did not go all the way up to the rapids. Jig under a float. I would go back to get more but I had knee surgery yesterday.
