Jake I do have flush mounts just behind me. I installed them myself and put them at just a very slight outward angle because there is so much brush in most of the places I fish I didn't want them hanging up all the time. All of the factory mounting I've seen are at about a 45deg angle and it looked too far out to the side for my type fishing. I can troll that way just fine. I just didn't know how I'd detect a hit, but the bell idea will probably solve that problem. Of course I guess in a kayak if you hook a good fish you'll know it just by the feel on the boat. I hope to give it a try soon. Thanks for the bell idea.

I just loosen the drag so when a fish grabs the lure I can hear it taking out line. How is the water level at the boat ramp....can you launch a bass boat there? Three weeks ago alot of people were putting in small boats. There was someone who posted on this thread that put his 17' alum bass boat and he said he would be putting in at the lake next time since getting out was tough.

There is not enough ramp to unload a big boat. Unless you have enough man power to get it back on. I would say small alum. style is okay for sure. I seen people last year rip off their axles.

Yesterday I called the CBSP and the recorded fishing report said people were catching 8 to 17 sandbass per day with half being males and females. I called back this morning and got a live Park employee, he said the best fishing has been in the afternoon when the water temperature warms. He said the peak of the run has not hit yet. My son and his buddy are going to be down there next week during Spring Break. Hopefully the fishing will continue to improve with the warmer weather.

Kris
I would appreciate some updates also - Have they moved up into in the the current/shallows yet? how is the river flow/height?
I will be up there starting Thursday, but I only use my flyrod & usually use size #6 Clousers. I will tell you that in my experience 1/16 oz Roadrunners will outfish the 1/8 oz for white bass.

We have the hardest time casting the 1/16 oz even on a spinning reel. Dont know why.

what size of line are you using? Anything over 8 lb will make it harder to cast the small stuff, even with a spinning reel. Older line gets stiff and retains more memory making it harder to cast also. Try respooling with some new line and I bet you will be suprised by the difference.
