So do you guys think they are still staging at the opening of the creek near the entrance to the lake or do you think they are up further within the creek already and just still sluggish?

Based on the post in the Whites section about the huge schooling activity north of the Rowlett Rd. bridge yesterday I'd think that most of them are still staging near the entrance?

That would be my guess but there may be those that wish to differ. I think that the reason you have been seeing all the trucks is because the weather has been nice and people are ready to get out of the house. Usually, if the fish are in and even if you aren't in the right hole at least someone is coming out with a stringer but I haven't seen it or heard about it yet.

Thx for the replies guys. That's good info. Now when I read the post about the sandies schooling I thought they were talking about on the lake stretch of Rowlett Road. Was I mistaken in assuming this?

I think he saw the schooling fish on the west or north side of the Rowlett Road bridge that leads from Rowlett into Garland. Just north of the marina, between the bridge and the big power lines. That would put it below the mouth of Rowlett Creek.

Hey Quackinator good to see you man.
In regards to the trash, why don't we do our part to pick them up and if you see someone littering tell them to stop or get their license plate # and report them.... I normally have a grocery bag with me and try to pick up what I can after I'm done fishing.

That would be a start. Like the idea of putting trash cans out there but wonder who would take the responsibility of servicing them. Also got that group of lazy you know whats that wouldn't throw their trash in one if it was three feet away from them.

Trash cans will simply be washed up by floods or get stolen and neglected. We need folks like us to be hard on them who are littring. and the warden showing up more often.

Probably right. Someone would just build a fire in it. Regular Warden appearance would probably cut down on some of the riffraff no license, undersize keeping jerks.

My experience has been that the majority will make their run during the full moon. If that is the case the majority will run in about a week or two. That is why some fish were caught about two weeks ago during the last full moon. They also seem to like to run after a rain when the creeks are higher. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Quack, on the locale of the schooling runners. Guess I'll be down there tomorrow morning and try the cattails out of the canoe. I'm hoping to get lucky enough to catch one of those passing schools in the midst of Crappie Chasing. Man the sandies are fun on the 4ft ultralight!
And definitely a ditto on what the Jag Man had to say about keeping bags. Think I'll stop by a dollar store here at lunch and pick up a box of bags and keep them in the truck. Great idea!

Went to the area between the Castle Rd. bike trail area and walked up towards 190. Fished for about an hour and managed one female on a white rooster tail rolled sloooooooooowly along the bottom. Saw a few others fishing.. saw no other fish caught while I was there.
