Hey Guys, I am putting my ego aside and hoping that some fellow anglers will help me get on some fish. I am avid kayak fishermen and am able to move around the lake by my motor on the back. I have made 2 trips to Alan Henry with only 3 fish to my name; 2 1/2 if you count the baby bass. I have been fishing texas weighted / weightless senkos, tried cranks and some top water (too early. if anyone fishes out there and has some spots they dont mind and some bait tips, I would really appreciate it. Also if anyone has tips for a up and coming bass pro that would be great too! Thanks guys for your time.

Advice on AH is pretty hard to come by these days, although there are a few guys on here that are willing help some. I guess because it is the only "tournament" waters close to lubbock. I feel your pain as we had to spend many fishless trips to figure 'em out on our own.
I haven't been out there yet this year (hope to change that this weekend), but usually, we've had the best luck starting the season up river where the water is muddier and warms up a little faster. I've also heard of people doing well around gobbler. We usually do pretty good with traps, texas rigs, and cranks.

Alan Henry is just a tough fishery. It takes a very long time to figure it out. One of the guys on our team fishes Henry at least once a week, and he said it took him 2 years to figure that lake out.
Anyways, Gobbler is a good spot as previously mentioned. Other than that, just fish as many spots as possible and you will be able to eliminate a lot of spots quickly.

Try south facing rocky banks with Senkos, watermelon red, baby bass, & other greens. Worked well this past weekend, late in the afternoon. Gobbler creek can be good and is accessible by kayak from the bridge and wind is not usually a big problem there.

I agree with everything they said about it being tough, but once you start to figure them out a lil bit all the rocks and bushes wont look the same anymore. My strong points arent deep clear water so i head up river until i see some color. And dont put that topwater away, i caught two on a buzzbait and had two miss it yesterday. good luck

Fish little grape with watermelon red flake sinko wacky riged. Fish the west side wall all the way back to the end of the creek. I have always done well there. Big grape is good also on the north wall with the same worm. Start in the mouth of it at the no wake bowies. Good luck

Thanks you guys, I know it is tough to give out good information b/c of the tournaments going on out there but its great to hear from some of you. I'm just looking to get started on my quest to conquer LAH. These tips will defenitly get me going on the right path. Say hi if any of you guys see me out there. I will be in the fully rigged yellow Native Ultimate kayak. Send anymore thoughts or tips if you have any. Thanks again

AH water temps are still cold and the big fish are in deep clear waters and you have to finesse fish in deep cold waters .I don't know much about fishing out of a kayak , but will need some type of fish finder to figure out water depth and to find structure and the most important to find drop off shelfs that suspend big fish this time of the year . Another thing to watch on AH is the baro pressure , if the baro pressure is around 30 inch and dropping with the warmer air fish the shallower waters as in gobbler creek and little grape , if the pressure starts to rise with colder air go to deeper water as it doesn't effect the fish as bad . If your just trying to catch fish you can beat the banks and spook out some dinks ... Try fishing with a shakey head and a GrandeBass 4.5" rattlesnake in chartreuse for clear waters and a darker watermelon/red for stained waters and is a good all around bait for AH . Since i and my partner went back to fishing tourny's this year i will not get into discloseing hot spot and other trick baits we use , but i can tell you he did board a 10.25 DD fish in the boat to win big fish at the tourny this pass weekend ...Good luck with your fishing and as the waters warm up the fishing will turn on ...
