You can put a 175 powerhead on that motor, that is about it. You could bore out the cylinders a little but wouldn't gain much. If the motor runs that great I would not dare opening the engine up and boring it or changing anything else. 2 strokes are worse than 4 strokes when it comes to blowing up after being souped up.
Plus by the time you get all of that done you probably could have found a good used faster boat and sold yours and came out better.

I went from an 18.5 with a 150 to a 22' with a 250.. For a long list of reasons - I'd get a bigger boat with a bigger motor.. The biggest reason is I like not having to red line the motor all day to cruise at the speed I want. thumb.. just my $.02.

50 pounds less = 1mph gain.

How the hell are you getting that much speed out of your 18ft boat? Is this on GPS or speedometer?

same question I was going to ask? I know when i first got my ChampioN (18'6"ft 150Hp)my speedo said that I was going 62-65 then i compared it to my gps and i was only going 57-59 when my speedo was showing 62-65.If your boat is going that fast I wouldnt change anything thats is great speed for an 18 ft boat my next is to buy a bigger boat. good luck

Other than that guess ill be loosing the dual console , anchor, and a few other nick nacks. And for all those wanderin why we want to go faster well there is just no better feeling of being out in frnt in the shotgun start syle tournaments smile

Mine never went that fast. I had my prop worked and got 62 mph once with a tail wind and a light fuel load. I wanted to go faster so i got a ZX225 and if someone wants to pass me now they earned it.

There is one skeeter that will do this it was a 2000 17.6 with a 150 now you can only get this boat with 90 hp. I had one and called skeeter to get some info on boat, they told me I had what they called the rocket. This boat was made for the races they had after tournament at bass. This little boat kicked everyones [censored] running the course they had. My boat would jump on plane at half trim and no one could beat the hole shot.

Rangers are much slower than Skeeters..But they both share the awful ride!
