I get the feeling that a lot of Ranger boat owners are having to look up at my Triton when we cross at the boat ramp. It seems my Triton walks on water, while Ranger boats ride quite low.

Steve, I hope I do not offend you but in 5 years lets look at your service record and that of a Ranger. Then lets check each boat out real good to see what rattles and what still works and all that good stuff. Then we will sit back and see what your Triton is worth and what a Ranger is worth. I think the Ranger will come out ahead more times than not. Oh I forgot, lets go ahead and cut them in half and see who is still standing. I realize the Triton is probally faster, but I have still to this day never caught a fish doing 70 MPH.

You can't deny the ranger incentive program.

I did not see anything regarding a Ranger posted in the gentlemans original post....
Every time any thing is asked about any type of boat why is it the Ranger owners have to jump right in the middle and bash everything but the boat in which they ride??? Ranger owners remind me alot of Aggies !!!

Guess we don't need to ask bhking what his affiliation is. If you looking for a boat that is easy to jump on and off of, ask any tsip they know all about jumping on and off bandwagons. Whoop!!!!

Right on BHKing. My personal boat is a Blazer, my 3rd one at that, and my 4th will also be a Blazer. Thats my personal preference. I've been around this game for a long time now and have ridden in just about all of em out there, and I'm still waiting on somebody to show me something a 40,000 dollar boat does or has in it that my 25,000 boat doesnt

To answer your question, I have fished out of a Triton and they are very nice. They are laid out second to none. The ride wasn't what I expected, especially what you pay for them. Fishability a 10, Ride a 6.

A boat dealer friend of mine once told me "the difference in a good boat and a bad boat is 500 dollars". I believe it. Shop around.

Fishy, LOVE my Toon. I have a TR-19, and the layout of the boat was the best for me of all of the boats I looked at. That included Rangers, Skeeters, ProCrafts, and Champions. My only beef is that I wish the rod locker with the rod holders held more rods since it only holds 6. The shallower draft of the Triton may also help in skinny water. One thing to look at if you do get a TR-19 is that mine is a 1998, and is 18'10". The more recent TR-19s (I am not sure what year they changed) are 19'6". That extra 8" can help in rough water, even though mine handles it well.

In my opinion you can't do much better than the Triton boats. I like several of the others and they have their strong points, but for my money the Triton fit my needs best. My next boat will be a TR-21.

My $0.02

I have had great luck with my 2000 Triton TR-17 (Yamaha Powered). It rides like a much larger boat. As far as service record, I don't have one because I have never had to have it serviced. As I like to ad a lot of custom touches to the boat myself I have crawled around in it and disassembled several parts. I have been extremely impressed with the fit and finish of this rig even in places where the average customer would never even see. My next boat will be a Triton and I have recomended them to many friends. I am very suprised when I see the ranger owners dog these boats. Ive never replied to any of these comments before because I feel that the Triton's speak for themselves and do not need to be defended.

Like I said in the earlier post, I own a 2000 model Triton TR-186 with a Johnson 150. This is my first glass boat, and I love it. The only problem I have noticed is it had a leak in one of the live well hoses, which was easily fixed. Being only 18 1/2 feet long I do take some spray when the water gets rough, I don't know if this is due to the length or the brand. I like the layout of the deck and storage boxes. It has a good hole shot and is plenty fast. With the livewells empty and only myself on the boat it runs around 60mph, with a buddy, full livewells, and gear around 55. The finish on the boat is ok, I have a whith hull and it takes some work to keep it clean. I bought it used and saved alot of cash compaired to new ones. I am very pleased with the purchase, I would have made the same deal again.

You asked for advice, here's mine: Buy one, you won't be sorry. I don't have to trash anyone elses boat, actually, I could care less what anyone else drives. These posts are only enjoyable if you like soap operas and ego maniacs who make their toys look good by making yours look bad. Otherwise, these bashing posts are getting old and boring.

There are hundreds of Triton owner's email addresses available. Here are some URLS you should visit and email the owners directly to get their inputs:

These kinda of posts are fun. I don't even own a ranger or triton. I have only heard good things about both of them. People i know that run with em, love them. Buy the boat, you will love it. Just be nice when you pass my Nitro.

And i admit that i am a Cougar, since this whole alumni thing has started.

Man what a great post. I am going to make a new thread titled Nitro or Bayliner. See ya there.

Good luck with your decision

I personally like my 8ft Capecod Dingy...lol, just kidding..

I have owned 4 boats over a 10 year period and have seen the good and the bad in all. I currently own a Cobra and have been happy for the most part.

Triton makes an awsome boat but I was a little dispointed in the ride.

It's all about what you want, otherwise there would only be 1 boat manufacture!
