I'm headed to Lake Whitney for the weekend and want to get some bank fishing in. I'll be on the southern end, closer to the dam (not near it, but down that end of the lake).

I'm relatively new to Texas, but so far I have caught VERY little, and NEVER with fake bait. I've only had luck with bits of frozen shrimp. Even nightcrawlers usually strike out for me.

So - any thoughts on rigging, depth, bait, and type of beer to bring, would be very welcome!

Find a sandy bank with a point, somethin that can cast bout 30 yds. Cast net and grab some fresh shad. Sit and wait and you'll end usually end up with catfish, sandbass, or stripers. Good luck and let me know how u do!! i was goin to go down there for Springbreak but now im goin to austin.

I think I've been to Cliffview before, or near it. I forget the name of the cabin I'm at this time. I love the area, I just wish I could find some fish!

I've never used a net - are you saying I should cast a net to get baitfish?

Yeah if you can catch some shad or even just get some minnows you should catch something off of the points for sure. If you remember what the name of the cabin is I might be able to give you some more detailed help on spots

I've got a few fillets of some really stinky mackerel in the freezer - I'll probably bring that down and try some pieces as bait too.
