I have a HB 998 at my console and a 777c on the bow. Purchased an interlink to connect the two. After installing it worked but then while I was working on it decided to update the software on the 998. Now the new software in the 998 is not compatable with the 777c software. Contacted HB and ask if there was an update for the 777c they said the software ver had to be the same after ver 5 and there was no update available for the 777c. I have a 787c2i I could mount in the bow but the latest ver for it is 4.94. Did I just blow $130 bucks on an interlink that is no good to me if I use the updates software on my 998?

Reload the former software on the 998 and the Interlink should function again.

Yes I know that would work but I would lose the zoom on the 998 plus the ability to not show the water column.

I just did the same thing with the 5.320 software for my 1197, I have a 787 on the bow. The interlink quit working. I'm holding off for a while to see if the 700 series software is released soon. If not, I'll just downgrade the 1197 for a while until it becomes available. I haven't had the new capabilities long enough to get accustomed to them, so going back temporarily wouldn't be a big deal. I mainly hate to reset to defaults. It takes me as long to get my custom configuration back in as it does to perform the software upgrade.

I had similar issue with my 718 & 898. They did release an update for the 718 that seems to fix it. Hopefully they are putting out a 787 release as weel.
