If I launch at Horseshoe Bend on the Brazos River, which way should I go to catch crappie or sandbass? Not familiar with that area. Also, can I even launch my 18 foot bass boat? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No you can not launch a bass boat. My grandfather use to own all of that and i've been their several times. Need a flat bottom john boat you can drag.

Launch at the TPWD public ramp at Tin Top road and go west. It is only a few minutes to the bend. The water right at Horseshoe bend is shallow, so watch your sonar and stay in the channel. The river between Tin Top and Horseshoe Bend is good for sandbass. For crappie fish Sanchez Creek about a mile west of the ramp.

You should be made aware that the Brazos is in the midst of a golden algae bloom that may affect your chances.

I'd be more concerned about leaving my tow vehicle down there. I used to know someone that lived down there. Not the kind of people I'd want anywhere near my stuff.Just an FYI and my .02
