Caught my heaviest bass the other day. As I was bringing her in, I noticed something sticking out of her mouth.

At first, I thought it might be an air bladder or some sort of fungus. When I finally got ahold of her, I realized it was a partially digested fish. When I looked even closer, I discovered that she had swallowed a 9 to 10 inch bullcat.

I tried to pull it out but it was stuck. I couldn't see the stinger fins down in the gullet (they were already swallowed so I guess they were imbeded). Anyhow, I'm guessing she was a little over 7 pounds not including the catfish.

I assume that the catfish will keep digesting. Certainly a first for me.

The largemouth's still eating, she can't be doing too badly.

Cool pics, nice fish.

Yeah, I was wondering how she possibly could be hungry. Perhaps she struck more out of aggression?

They will definitely still eat with food in the gullet. This one at Amistad sure wanted my 5" swimbait!

So that makes me wonder. If a fish that size is in it's mouth do they remove any of it from the bass mouth before a weigh in at a tournament?

I was wondering the same thing! I think it would have killed this fish so I let it be after a soft tug.
