I have citicas....a 200d and the newer 200e they are hands down the best reels I have ever owned for the price. I also have a Johnny Morris Signature that is about 2 years old and a Pro Qualifier both of those are really good as well for the price. I have looked at the Curado 200e series and not found what I am looking for since they are a bit out of my price range, but alot of people praise them. Get what you feel comfortable with and you should be happy.

I just bought an H20 Mettle last night after hearing tons of good reviews on them from here and elsewhere! Havent tried it yet but im gonna try and hit up a local pond after work to see how it performs. I bought some reel butter oil for the bearing and lubed up all the bearings I could find. Another reel I have bought recently was a Shimano Coriolis. Academy had em on clearance for 38 and some change. So far I have loved it! but they are hard to find now...

I have been very happy with BPS extreme reels. I have a couple and they are dependable, cast well and have good drags. Not sure how they would hold up to years of constant use, but for a weekender, they'll land fish for ya

East, H20 is Academy's house brand, and consequently is available nowhere else. The Mettle is a fine reel and is periodically on sale for half price ($25). When that happens, you'd best get there on Sunday or Monday.

I've gotten several great reels at WM on the clearance rack. Look for the red tags. Got a Pinnacle Inertia Finesse there for $20 recently, and I'm inclined to call it my favorite baitcaster. The thing's like silk. Slapped on a Berkley Cherrywood rod that was $10 at Academy, it made for an astonishing $30 combo.

For spinning reels, I'm thrilled with the Mitchell Avocet II Gold. $30-$35 at BPS everyday. I have 3 of the 4 sizes, each works uniformly beautifully. Check out the reviews on the BPS site - not many products bearing dozens of reviews have such a high rating. I can't believe that dang thing is so cheap. The ultralight is especially sweet, and I've caught some BIG bass with it. Good luck.

Thanks Archie. I don't live close enough to a Academy to shop it regularly, but will check them out on the next trip.

I have the Daiwa Exceler's. I have a mix of the 7.1 high speed and 6.3 medium speeds. I love them and I love the price of $60-$80! Great reels for the money.

Also, try the Daiwa Strikeforce. They are a toned down Exceler and they almost look the same. I think the Strikeforce has 6+1bearings and the ExCeler has 8+1bearings?? I have had great luck from these reels and no issues at all. I got the Strikeforce for $30!

I got the opportunity to use the Daiwa Megaforce today and for the price it felt like a pretty decent reel.

If you are looking for a good quality reel at a bargain price The Pinnacle Solene and the Pinnacle Platinum Plus baitcasters are pretty good reels in the 50 dollar range - BPS Pro Qualifier is one of the best reels you can buy for $100 and they're on sale right now for 80 bucks..................

You cant beat and of the curados. The super free 200b is one of the best and you can sometimes find a used on for sale but they are not as common as the regular 200b. The new 200e is good and the citica 200e is a great real also.

I tried to order one, they are on B.O. and they didn't know when they would have any.
