Went to Cally today and it started out not to good. Was hard to find the shad and the net did not want to cooperate. Got enough to get started and went and double anchored at one of my good spots. Had 8 rods out and was just chillin when one of my 6000's decided to let the fish take it down to his home before I could get to it. All I saw was the rod and reel goin on a sideways plane to the bottom. I was thinking there goes a $100 dollar bill. I wish I had filmed it because after a little while I decided to move so I started reeling in the one next to the one that went over and so help me that big channel had got himself tangled in to that one. Got him and my rod and reel back. Turned out not so bad a day after all. I let that fish live, I was so grateful.

Glad you got it back. Sounds like the Catfish Battleship is in need of some rod holders.

I know that feeling. Was on a friend's boat some years ago and we were making a dash across the lake. The rods were laying on the deck of the boat in tie downs (you see where this is going).
All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I see the rods go airborne. Managed to catch one, but two went over the side including one of my Abus.

Awesome luck! I fished the Weatherford crappie house this morning and snagged a brand new little crappie sized shakespeare rod and reel. It still had all the plastic on it!

Weird stuff happens on the water. When I was a kid, I was fishin with a two hook fish finder rig off Bob Hall pier at the coast. Had some friends with me who had never been to the big salty before. Naturally, I was working it good, telling them you never knew what you might hook at any moment or how huge it might be. Just then, one of my reels goes off. I run over there, pick up the rod, cross its eyes, and feel a couple of head shakes before the line goes limp. I reel up and no leader or nothing. I say real matter of fact, "See that? Shark cut me off." Friends eyes all about the size of dinner plates. Then one of them hooks up. Its a pretty mild fight and he reels up a 3 lb hardhead. He had hooked the eye of one of my hooks and my other hook was in the heardhead'd mouth. Pretty embarassing.

WP, sure am glad that you released that channel, we been working real hard on training him to capture as many rods as he could, cutting the competition down before the next 2 tourneys. JK, glad you got the set up back, I know RGO wishes we could have done the same with his rod in the 181 cove.
