I put together my Phat Tube. Can NOT wait to get to it.....This is a hybrid (I guess) pontoon and tube.
Do you guys wear waders with this ? Boots.....Personal preference....
This newbie would like advise from the experts, please.
Thanks !

Most only wear waders in cold weather. Summer months you'll be much cooler just wearing a pair of shorts and taking along clothes to change into when you're done fishing.

In summer months, I wear neoprene booties with scuba diving fins over them. You can buy both at Academy for arund $15-20 for both items.

As for the waders, you can buy boot foot or stocking foot. After trying the stocking foot and watching the guys with boot foot waders, I'll make the switch prior to this winter to boot foot. They aren't as easy to puncture while walking to and from the water's edge.

Thanks Kelly !
Do you store this thing inflated or do you take it apart after each "sailing" to let it dry.

You can do it either way, depending on how much space you have. I keep mine in the garage, inflated. I do let some of the air out to give the seams on the bladder a rest. Otherwise, they'd be stretched out all the time and that stress could lead to an early seam failure. I keep it stored with about 80% of the air in it.

Hey Treetop, since you are in Denton, you should check out the LBJ Grasslands lakes. I personally have never been there, but, they sound like float tube heaven.

Check out: http://www.lsfta.com/lakes.html for more info on some of the lakes located there.

Maybe someday we could meet up there and fish!

Enjoy your tube, they are a blast.

Kelly - What kinda fins ? Do you use the slip on type or the one that fits over the boot ?

NvaTexan - Sounds great ! I am going to try to get my maiden voyage in this weekend !

If you buy the boot foot waders, you'll need boot foot fins for those. In the summer, you can wear those over the neoprene booties if you can get them tight enough. I use slip on on fins in the summer.

Either of you guys planning on fishing the Float Tube Tourney Oct 2nd at Mineral Wells State Park?

Some of us will be out there this Sunday checking it out. If you want to come along, join us. You'll have plenty of people around you, so it'll be a good maiden trip. Plus, the fishing is usually pretty good at Mineral Wells.

We'll arrive at sunrise, I'm sure.

Go Treetop and you can post GPS coordinates and depths along with water temperatures of the best spots. Along with what works best at each location.

haha, if you go, have fun!

I, will be at home administering "fun" to my boys. My wife is out of town through Sunday. frown

I just had a grand idea! I could put them both in life jackets and tow them around! No, that's probably not a good idea, my wife would probably not think it's funny. smile

TREETOPJF,
If you have a notion that you might want to try some of the LBJ Grassland lakes, give me a call 972-342-8005. Ilive in Alvord and all the lakes are within just a few minutes of the house.
