On Friday evening went up around the rapids and fished for two hours and got 10 nice keepers. They are moving in slow this year, may have to do with all that construction going on.Having to work harder so far this year. Should bust loose soon. But that's what makes fishing on the creek so fun.

I talked with a guy who told me they were way up past 377...and he was going in through a housing addition. It's got a posted sign, and being the law abiding citizen I am, I didn't stay long. Guess I'll park at the bike lot and hoof it in. Tuesday, the weather looks about perfect...warmer and southerly winds.

Yep I looked at that- Slaughter road, off of 114. They have a BIG no tresspassing sign construction employees only and the cops have been there as well, right beside a occupied home. That could be a bad deal for tresspassing. I won't do that either. Take care

Buck, that law is "Exiting a Controlled Access Highway where prohibited" that does not apply to 377 because it is not a controlled access highway. The can write a ticket for an abandoned vehicle however they have to put the orange sticker first and it has to sit there for over 24 hrs, then they can ticket it. The only other thing I can think of is that Roanoke may have some type of city ordinance against parking there. They can ticket you for things like that all day long. I would be interested to know if anyone has actually gotten a ticket or just the orange stickers.

I haven't fished there this year, but I'm not happy they closed down that West of 377 lot by the tracks. At least that kept everyone safe and off 377. I drove 377 today and all cars on 377 had white tickets, the couple cars pulled off on East side towards rail road had orange ticket. There was a car down the steep hill from blocked lot other side of 377 with no paper on windshield. I wonder if that's OK?

Has anyone talked to the city? Has anyone talked to the Core? How can they have public land there with no public access?

are the ropes for boats or bank fisherman? I don't get that.

They were out there today too. Some guy in a kayak got a ticket for crossing the ropes. I got checked just east of the ropes, no tickets or fish.

Yep, they seem to have settled in there on Sundays. I didn't get there until late in the afternoon but still got checked for the second week in a row in the same spot. Guess they'll have bomb sniffing dogs down there next.
I don't mind getting checked because I always fish legal but I am getting sort of a gestappo like feeling about the heavy oversight.

The ropes are supposed to be for boats. Only thing missing is the signage that states do not cross or no tresspassing etc.., as there is not signage what so ever.

So, just because there is a rope across a creek, you can not cross it or you get a citation. Even though there is no construction activity at the time. What is this country coming to ????

Rob, are you a legal professional??? Do we have a legal path here to address citations written for this and dismiss them???
Especially if they are written against a vehicle and not a vessel per the US Army Corp of Engineers Rules and Regulations?

Bad thing is the court is in Sherman, it will cost me $40+ in gas to dismiss this in court.

if anyone see the law out there .. we need to ask them what we can do as far as fishing there . where to park and if someone can ask about the rope please post what that is all about. as far as al sanders there is no parking signs and you can walk around the construction area just a long walk but hey that is good scouting and good fishing..

I emailed the Corp to see what is going on with the ropes and the parking and this the response:

(1) There are several sets of marked rope barricades on either side of the TRA construction area crossing Denton Creek. . We have been warning people for a few weeks about crossing a NOTICABLE barricade, and staying out of the actual work area while construction is going on. Now there are divers getting the bags out via overhead cranes. The diversion channel has been removed. (This has kept the prepetual flow of the creek going for the fish traveling upstream to spawn. The boaters continue to disregard the barricades and now its a safety issue. This area is scheduled to be clear by mid week if and only if the public obeys and stays out of the barricaded work area.

(2). A vehicle went thru the piped off area on the west side and was struck by a train. As a result and at the request of the Railroad, TXDOT has closed that area (it is in their road easement and as a courtousy was left open for use until now ). Along with this the CORPS has warned everyone that there is no parking along the highway, and it is now being enforced at the request of TXDOT due to disregard of the posted restrictions and the causing of traffic hazards. Trophy Club and Roanoake have been issuing warnings for two weeks, and have now started siting vehicles parked along the roadway. I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks Jacky, now ask them where we should park to access the public land West of 377?

Got about a doz of these on Friday. My depth finder ran the creek from as low as 4-5 up to about 15-18 from the Trophy Club launch. Hint, Hint on the second number...at least my experiences right now.

Don't know if you are legally allowed to park here...but it is only a short walk down from the Byron Nelson Highschool lower parking lot to the creek. It is right on the water. I thought about dropping my canoe in there, but decided to pay the fee at Trophy Club until I was sure. Didn't want to come back and find my truck towed.

Anywone know if they would allow it?

Went up the creek Monday walk all the ways to the hole. Its really down for this time of year. Did not get a few bites at the hole really small sandy. Came back down the creek working all sandbars and deep hole I could fine, must sandys was on the deep holes. Had to move bait really slow at times but when they hit they were engulfing it. Fished for around 6 hours and only got 50 nice sandy. Should pickup by this weekend, boats will not be going too far up innless we get some rain
