Its one of my favorite baits to throw later in the year but I was wondering if anyone picks them up and throws them this early? If so, do you throw it weightless and how slow would you work it?

Dude, a Magnum Fluke Texas-rigged is one of the hottest baits on Falcon and has been since this summer. A regular fluke style bait will catch 'em year around. I like a light tungsten weight, anywhere from 1/16 up to 1/4, if the wind or depth dictates. 1/2 to 3/4's in the bushes on Falcon or elsewhere. Weightless is also awesome and the intended presentation, but it drives me crazy cuz I can't feel my bait half the time.

I've always thrown it weightless and liked it but your right unless you get the reaction bite you can't feel the bait. Thanks for the info

I agree W/Fouzman. Try this. Rig your fluke texas rigged, weightless, except take a lead nail weight and slide the weighted nail on the bottom of your fluke, on one side, towards the front of the fluke. Wait until you throw it. The action is wild, and they can't stand it!

I have a fluke tied on a rod 100% of the time. For a light weight presentation, I tie a swivel about 2 ft up the line, but my favorite way is on a 4/0 weighted hook. A 1/16 oz belly weight makes it fall perfectly horizontal and the tail wags like a new puppy! I'm tellin ya, try it, let it fall on a semi slack line, and you'll get your arm broke!

I've got one tied on all the time.

I also use it as a topwater bait. Throw it, burn it about 4 cranks kill it, burn it , kill it--then hold on.

Its also fun catching Stripers the same way--only the big ones can get in their mouths.

When the bass are first moving shallow I love to throw a fluke w/ a light (1/16-1/4) weight pegged about 12-16 inches above the hook.. Then after the spawn I will throw it as a surface bait around shallow cover and my favorite of all is on a big Carolina rig in brush piles or deep grass... It Is an extremely versatile soft plastic....
