today is my daughters 12 b-day. I had the day off yesterday so we went to the lake. I don't have a boat so we were going to fish from the bank.

went by the park behind the Gaylord about 2 weeks ago and a lot of sandies right up by the bank. so we went there 1st. Got to the lake about 7am. stayed about 30 min. nothing>>>>

Remembered seeing posts about the cliffs and murell so I proceeded to chk them out.

Cliffs= nothing>>>> we didn't stay long though.

got to murell about 8:15 sat in the car about 10 min and saw a patch about 50 yrds off the bank. Got out and by the time we got down there they where gone. fished for a while with no luck.

'bout 9:00 they started up about 100 yards down to the right so we walked over there. They where everywhere. only trbl was they never got close and the wind was blowing in pretty good so I could not get very far out (even tried wading).

By this time there was about 3 boats right in the middle of them tearing it up!!!!

Oh well, taking my daughter fishing was great, just wish she could have caught some. she was kinda disapointed. afraid another outing like that and she might not want to go anymore

here's to calm waters.

Happy belated birthday to your daughter CrappieSeeker,sorry she didn't have any luck!Maybe next time,and a bit of advice ,My daughters are now grown,but if I wanted them to do or go anywhere with me ,I would mention that there may be boys their age there! wink That usually works!I fish Murrell daily and have had similar luck to yours,if they are schooling close to the bank,they won't be there long and if they are busting the surface.I usually can't reach them! bang So don't be too hard on yourself,and even if it doesn't seem like your daughter appreciates it,she'll remember the time your spending with her! thumb

Yeah, the last 3 or 4 times that I have been out there I haven't seen hide nor hair of the sandies, but it has always been really choppy. I guess I should check the weather for wind before I go out there. But that't ok, cause I can still catch a few dink lmb's while I'm out there.
