I will be heading out to Choke Canyon and was wondering if the Crappie are biting yet and if so, where would be the best place to go. I will be in a kayak.

I may try to hit it this weekend as well. May try for some bass, then switch over to crappie. If anyone has any tips, I would also appreciate the advice. And where can you get minnows on your way down from San Antonio?

I believe the blue store behind the new gas station at 99 and 281 sells minnows if you are going to fish the river.

Was down there weekend before last and I couldn't find any concentrations of crappie. Didn't try minnows but spoke to a number of folks who were and they were struggling also. Maybe it has changed in the last 8 or 9 days. Water temps in the river were already 70-73 degrees.

Is the bridge deep at 99? Never been up that way. Might try to catch some crappie there and then go fishing for some bass in the river.

The bridge has water maybe 20'-23' deep at the channel. That is only between two columns. I did not fish there but there were no boats fishing there weekend before last. Just an FYI.
