I do know that there are hybrids stocked in Buchanan. This past summer I found them over at flag but what I was catching at the park were whites. Today I caught 10 more, the biggest being 15" We were using chartruese jigs and silver spinners. The bite at the pipe line is picking up as well, but there you do have to look out for hybrids. So far at the state park not many people have caught hybrids though.

The spinner I was using was a silver terminator in-line and the pipe line is down river from the park.

Went again yesterday after lunch with my son and caught 30. The sizes were 12" to 16" It was fun. Any more fish to report? Sounds like you guys are doing well.
Shut up and fish!

Is it decent fishing from the bank/wade or is a boat necessary?

Go to Colorado Bend State park and walk along shoreline. There is plenty of bank fishing...and wading...
Friends, have been catching nice whites in deeper holes.

just got back from a 3 day fishing weekend at the Park. Hasnt picked up too much compared to a couple weeks ago. The bite still seems the best in late afternoon. Friday was pretty tough to get a full stringer, was far and betweend. Then Saturday I trolled with my yak directly in front of the park and caught about 10 in an hour, so theyre definitely out there and picking up but the full spawn is still a couple weeks away, especially after that cold front that hit us saturday night dropping to upper 20's, but warmed up quickly.

I'm new to kayak fishing and interested in the trolling part. How do you rig your rod so you can watch it and it or the line not be in the way of your paddling.

If you don't have any flush mounted rod holders, get some. Install them angling back a little sharper than 45 degrees on each side; beside or behind the seat. The line and rods will be well behind your paddle stroke. The fish will hook them selves if you are moving, for smaller fish like white bass you may need a bell or something on the rod to let you know when a fish is on.
Another option, which would probably be best for the river, is to just to lay the rod in your lap angling back. Make sure you have some sort of a leash on it, a bigger fish will take your rod in no time.
Good luck!

How is the water level at the boat ramp....can you launch a bass boat there?
