Try the Bank Fishing board with a few more specifics, and you'll get some excellent feedback. I'm farther S.E., so can't really help much.

Good Luck!

Thank God for fish !

If you are station at Fort Hood. You have Several stock tanks in the training area's that can but the local lakes to shame. If you want to know were to go. visit the range control office and get your range access and get your post fishing lic. They stock alot of the ponds yearly.

If you are fishing belton, for bank fishing I would say leona park gives you some good options. Getting into sand bass time and can often catch them right at the ramp with live minnows or roadrunners. Can often catch cats there at night with liver or danny kings stinkbait but probably a little better in summer. I see people pull crappie out of there pretty frequently as well with minnows near the dock.

But if I was bank fishing would look into the ponds on FH have heard good things(as mad fisherman said), but any stocked tank would do. Temple stocks several ponds(Lions park is pretty easy pickings) and I am sure killeen does too.

Don't let Treebass read this post, but Belton is probably the best lake to learn to fish from the ones you listed. IMO

I'm about 5 minutes from Travis, and it is not an easy place to fish. It takes a bunch of trips to figure out, plus once it warms up, it has a lot of water skiers.

What type of fishing do you like to do?

How did it go? Were you able to pull anything in? Weather was a little rough this weekend.
Anyone who says stock tanks are cheating have never fished a wild one. We have a stock tank that is full of catfish but they are harder to catch than any lake catfish I've ever caught. That's cuz they get no pressure whatsoever, so if you even step anywhere near the bank they get spooked. Got so bad a few years back I had convinced myself there were no more catfish in the tank and so I set out trot lines and caught a mess of them. I put them back and now I have to work hard but can catch them on a rod and reel. So yes if you go to a high traffic stock tank that just got stocked some people may argue cheating, but I wouldn't. smile

have a good one
