Well the boats still in the shop so I have had to resort to bank fishing for a while. Hit a few creeks around my neck of the woods and been pulling nice fish outta 2-5 foot of water. This was a nice change of scenery, but then noticed something...every female I caught had already spawned out! hmmm Now I know they'll start early, but I have never caught as many this early in the year as I did yesterday. Any body else having any luck in the shallows???

I have been trying some lake lewisville coves for a couple weeks with no luck. but i went to a little creek north of the lake and caught a few decent crappie. the two females I caught hadn't spawned out yet. Will try some coves this week when it warms up and see what happens. Thanks for the info!

I went last Saturday. I caought more males than females, but most of the females eggs were READY. 3 weeks ago when I caught those nice fish, they were nearly all females with bright yellow eggs. These were turning the clearish/brown color. There are some doing it now.

Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!

I got to Fork sunday a week ago and came home last saturday. We did'nt find them shallow yet but caught some at 18ft. in timber and under the bridges. All we could get bites on were minnows. We could pick up a few in 10ft timber off of points. I caught one white crappie that weighed 2.3 lbs. We managed to come home with about 15 lbs. of fillets between my brother and Mother and myself. Family, fishing and good food-- it does'nt get much better than that!

Crappie I caught today were full of eggs but they were not ready to spawn. Male fish were in 6-8 foot of water with the females. I think it will be atleast two more weeks, water temp is still in the low 60's. flag

Yes sir, jigs are working very well. Two best I've found are white and chartreuse triple tail grub and the panfish assassin in "opening night"on a 1/16 oz. jighead. Find a good bend in a local feeder creek where the current has dug a hole and drift it with a bobber at various depths untill you find the right spot.
