I've had my hobie a few years and am thinking about getting a depth finder/fish finder for it. Would appreciate any tips from others' experiences. I kind of like the portables since they don't require installation, but not sure if they're as good, and probably have their own downsides like wires to get in the way. Any tips would be appreciated. Also, do you know of any that have GPS built in, or do most of them have this?
Thanks

I will take some pics of my outback when i get it out in a few and let you see how i have done mine. I like it because nothing about it is permanent.

Thanks, appreciate it. I would like to see how you've done it because I was hoping to find a way to do the same thing - nothing permanently fixed in place.
Thanks

didnt get a chance to get a pic. but this is how i did it. went to home depot and got a 1/2 inch wide 10 inch long steel pipe like this I also got a cap to go on top of the pipe so water wont get down in it. then i took my ram mount i had on my pontoon and connected it to the pipe. I then put it in where the mast goes. To get the pipe to have a snug fit in the mast slot i had to take some electrical tape and wrap it a few times. then i run the cable from the ff under the lid of the front hatch. when i get a pic of it i will pm it to you so u can see it.

Sounds like a good setup. I saw something similar on a Hobie forum using PVC pipe and mounting it in the sail mast slot. Please do send the pics when you get em.
