Anybody know about this lake? I found it on a map and went out there to find the gate locked. Has it been close long? Why? Thanx for the info.

The reason there is a lock on the gate is that there are some cows in there. Yes I know the lock is on a gate over a cattle guard and it doesn't make much sense but that is the reason for the lock. You can still fish the lake you just have to hike to it (about 100 yards).

Whose cows are they? Isnt that public land? If I want to raise chickens out there, can I get a key to the gate?

No, it belongs to the US Forestry Service and can be leased for raisng "stock", I guess chickens quaalify, but there are alot of cattle ranchers in the area that lease portions of the grass land for graising.
