Any one ever use Crayfish for cat bait? If so, how do you like it? I have a chance to get a bunch of live ones to take with me fishing next week.

Tough choice,,,,,, they are pretty good eat'in themselves. All catfish will eat them, but depending on where you're at the drum love'em too. But that isn't all bad, because they make good bait and are pretty good eating themselves ! Just my .02 worth

I would eat the crawdads and get a cast net or go buy a buffalo.

I would eat the crawdads and get a cast net or go buy a buffalo. + 1...when you here a southeast Texas angler talking about catching catfish on crawdads they are not talking about a the big red ones you buy at the store, they are talking about those things that burrow in your southeast Taxas lawn and make a 6 inch tower of mud...they dig those things up with a shovel and put them in trot lines to catch ops...or what we north Texans call flatheads.

If you're rod and reel fishing, peel the tails and use that piece of meat. Channel cat love them peeled. Whole ones don't work nearly as well.

All good advice. I think I will get a "FEW" and give a try, but not going out and buy a lot.

Stick with shad. We have been down there the last two weekends and threw everything but the kitchen sink at them. Fresh shad worked the best on twok.

Thats all we used in California, we peeled the tails and put 4-5 on a hook. The crawdad's are every where out there, most canals and ditches that hold water have them in there. Wouldnt take but 2 hours to trap a bucket full.
Listen with your eyes cause your ears will lie to ya Biggest fish: All caught in California Striper- 44 lbs Sturgeon- 185 lbs Crappie- 22 in Catfish- 26 lbs Trout- 12 lbs Salmon- 63 lbs Halibut- 112lbs Lingcod- 78 lbs
