Got to the culvert across from the Texas Bar & Grill about 8:15 PM, and must admit, with a fair amount of trepidation! Had heard recently, in private emails and conversations, about "new" no fishing signs, and some make it sound like it is a blanket prohibition. What in fact I found, at least in my part of Lake Carolyn, is basically nothing that hasn't been there since I have been fishing there(20 yrs or more).
Anyways, dropped a 1/32nd oz firecracker jig right into one of the openings of the culvert, and before it got to the bottom, a16-17 inch black bass grabbed it and headed for open water! I landed him, admired him(fat and colorful), then released him. I had a red/chartreuse32nd oz jig tied above the firecracker, and on the second drop, same results! A 12 inch crappie! 3rd drop, a huge bluegill, on the firecracker! 6th drop in front of the second opening of the culvert(it has 3) another crappie, about 11 inches! 10th drop, another huge bluegill! 10 more drops, 2 more HUGE crappie, and whiterock jesse can tell you what size I am talking about!
Then the on and off rain, combined with the wind(swirling vortex in that culvert corner!) finally got the best of me, and I was homeward bound. Fished about 40 minutes altogether, final tally-4 crappie, 3 bluegills, one bass. I feel strongly that if the rain and wind hadn't drove me off, i could have done some major damage to those culvert fish!
Talked a security guy making his rounds, and it was QUITE uneventful, exchanged pleasantries, and he did admit that there were some good fish there, and he went about doing his job!

Well Tim, as hard as it's raining outside my window RIGHT NOW, I reckon there's gonna be a pretty good body of water out there by morning! Unfortunately, the only thing that may be in there might be some of the literally hundreds, if not thousands of paper shell and native pecans from the 3 trees that canopy over my back yard, and maybe the 7 cats that call my yard, garage and porches home!

No. That is maybe 500-800 yds from "my spot". this particular spot in the photo has yielded a 10 lb bass to me though, and countless 1-7 lb bass over the yrs! Not to mention a huge channel cat now and then, along with some LARGE crappie as well.

So maybe this is a really stupid question....But where the heck is Los Colinas? Lol, these sound like great spots, but I don't have a clue where this area is.

I been to that spot in the picture. Do you just ignore the no fishing signs? Do people give you trouble?

There's a public parking lot near Connor and Las Colinas Blvd. Street parking is VERY risky. Do NOT park in the hotel garage. Just use the public log. Be sure to put some money and your license # in an envelope and drop it in the slot -- their sign sounds quite nasty about the 24 hour pay thing.

hey Henry, if you park in the COVERED parking garage next to Williams Square(next to the Horse fountains)AFTER HOURS, AND ON WEEKENDS, it is free!! Been doing that for yrs!
I have no idea what you are talking about as far as the street parking on Las Colinas Blvd. Been parking there for the better part of 20 yrs, WITH ZERO INCIDENTS OF ANY SORT, so, maybe i am running a 20 plus yr "lucky streak", but then again i hardly ever go there during business hours. Maybe after 5 it's a different world!
so it goes, ... . . . . . .. .

Went out there Sunday for about an hour. Parked on the street across from Texas Bar and Grill. Did not have any trouble with parking. Caught a bass out of that middle boat dock (while staring at the no fishing sign) and another a little furthur down the way. Did not make it to said culvurts, yet...

I have been fishing that area for 10 years now, I have never had an incident. but let me tell you a sweet spot if you are not caught. the las colinas country club itself. the big pond in the heart of the golf course has yielded many bass to me and an old fishing partner. this time of year and on into december with jigs we have caught bass over 8 pounds. the home owners around the pond are buttholes and will call the security out on you. there is a creek that runs along oconnor behind the town homes in front of the country club and that holds some good fish.

I've noticed that they took all the fencing down at las colinas on northwest hwy, looks like it is time to fish there soon.
