Do yal think humminbird or lowrance makes a better side imaging unit? What do yal think and why?

Thanks

I've got an HB so I'm partial to it. Lowrance make a nice unit but I don't like having to buy an add-on to make the SI functional. Just me...

Both are great, choose which one you are comfortable with. The knowlegeable operator is the one that gets the best performance of either.

I have a Humminbird and love it but they are both a HUGE advantage over 2-d sonar in my opinion. I have found lots of brush piles, rock piles, tires and even a sunken boat that I never knew were in areas I fish all the time, and then immideately caught fish in some of those areas.

i've had both...the lowrance has a sharper image when in sonar mode...both are good on side scan(as log as you have at least a seven inch screen)i dont suggest either in the smaller units.both are user friendly...downscan is good in both models,i bought the hd-8 with side scan and love it

I am a Humminbird owner, I am not sure how Lowrance performs updates, but lately, Humminbird updates have not been worth a darn. I recently installed the 5.32 and 5.4 updates to my 1197 and 998 respectfully. The update works fine, but if you put your side scan and down scan on auto sensitivity, the units will just flash and flicker when on down imaging or side imaging.

Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.
