Does anyone ever seriously fish this pound. I know that alot of kids fish for perch and small catfish, but I didnt know if anybody really fished for bigger cats and bass. I know that this pond was drained and restocked in 2004. They stocked perch, catfish, and bass.

How about posting a link to a satellite view of that location using http://maps.google.com -- ?

Hey Stallions80, I just ran out there this afternoon to check it out because I hadn't fished out there since 96. Ran into a parks worker that said they have been very aggressive in stocking it. He said there should be some nice size catfish and bass. He said that they also have stocked a bunch of crappie. Not sure how true it is, but I may go back later this evening to check it out. When I was there today I baited the far side of the pond out pretty good. Hopefully I will have some success stories.

caught lots of small catfish. (6" to 8" range) They hit and fight like they are big but they are not. It was fun though, stayed about an hour and a half and caught 12 fish. If you have kids it would be a great place to take them but if you are looking for dinner I would not suggest it. I may go back and use a smaller goldfish for bait just to see if any of the bigger ones that may be in there just want the bigger bait. I will keep you all updated.

Crappie Fan, what were you using for bait? Sounds like you had a blast.

Yeah I went out there the other night and caught alot of cats that size, biggest was about 10". It seemed like you could pretty much cast out anywhere and they will hit it on the bottom in seconds. I was using biscuit dough of all things rapped onto a treble hook.

May have to stop by and check out Verdes. Ive gone by many times but never stoped. I came accross this on the city of Mesquite site.
City Lake, one of the largest bodies of water in the city, has been stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish recently for an event called KidFish. Palos Verdes Lake and Rorie-Galloway Day Camp pond have also been stocked with bass and catfish in months past.

The day I went I was using worms. I think that they will pretty much hit anything. There are a ton of blue gills as well, and they come right to the surface to check you out. It was fun but I was hoping to hook up with some five and six pounders like we use to. Damn them redoing the pond.

Went back to Porter Pond this past weekend and used biscuit dough on treble hooks off of the pier again. Caught alot of those small catfish again, but we did manage a 14" channel cat. Also I was really shocked but I caught an 8" crappie...on biscuit dough. Strange huh?

After searching Google Maps for about 10 mins, I was able to find it. Just got back... I caught 4 SMALL black bass off a shortened red blood line worm. I will go back tonight or tomorrow with some lighter tackle. I want to try a small jitterbug. Still had a blast.

I went Pales Verdes and checked it out a few times never saw anyone fish. Gonna try to head out there later and try to catch a few.
