They are under virtually no fishing pressure, and Town Lake has prime carp habitat.

I will give it a shot for ya Town Lake is a very special water for a couple of resons first and for most is that it is fed by barton springs a cold water spring that keeps the water temp cooler during the summer not very common in texas, limited spawing areas keeps, another huge factor is food supply tons of muscles and creyfish very high protien food sorces keeps the carp in good nick...I would say that as far as carp waters in the usa there is quite a bit of presure on them I know of 2 outfits that guide UK anglers on town lake and people come from all over the USA to fish it, still a very easy water to show up and catch a 30 at just about any given time.

Going to Austin on Nov. 8 for a week, where do ya recommend fishing for carp in the evening and what bait do you recomend. Sounds like a good way to spend my evening and its close by. Thanks for info in advance.

I didn't know there were guides on Town Lake. I have only seen one or two other people fishing there. 'Course I don't go very often (when I get a kayak I sure will), but still.

-Phil you have to look to spot carp anglers around eliers dock canoue rentel, red bud island is another local....the island that is neat long horn dam has a spot cut out of the back of it...great spot to fish all night with out getting hit up all night by the homeless people

yeah if you have a boat you can see some of our late night handy work in cutting out swims or fishing spots on the island...IMHO for what its worth the largest carp to come out of town lake was 46lbs 14oz I have seen fish crash in this part of the lake that would smash that record
