I use a short length of pvc attatched to a sharpened wooden stake with duct tape. Very simple and works fine on dirt banks. I've also used them on rocky banks, just hammer them in as far as you can wherever you can and use rocks to sturdy them up if you need to.

Actually, Moses and Cary have real rod pods. Tracy from the barge has a PVC rod pod. I know because I gave it to him. I'll see if I can locate any pics of it.

I've toyed with the same idea myself. smile

If you're going to build a PVC rod pod, here are a few issues to think about:

(1) Do the legs and/or rod-supports need to be adjustable? Do you want to be able to angle the rods up or down? Will it work on uneven or rocky terrain?

(2) Make sure that when a rod is place on it, the fishing line will not rub against the PVC when a fish makes a run.

(3) You'll probably want to be able to disassemble it, so it can fit in a trunk.

(4) One advantage of real rod pods is that they be used with the screw-in type of bite alarms. Do you want your PVC rod pod to do be able to do this? How could it be done?

Just a few thoughts. Anybody have others?

ps
I started fishing for carp back in the 60's in Kentucky where I grew up,,,used to go most every weekend with my buddy .his dad,and granddad,,I just wish I would have payed more attention to what his grandpa told us,,,and he had a killer doughball recipe,,,of course being young I didnt pay attention to him,,regret it now..but anyway we used to fish the resovoir at Lexington and a few pay lakes around the same area every weekend, been hooked ever since.
