Hi there - I am new to the Grapevine area, the forum and a little new to fishing. Haven't been since I was very little. I've been going out to the boat docks near SilverLake RV Park and haven't had much luck and keep getting run off cause I go really late/early and technically it's closed I guess. I don't have a boat so am looking for suggestions on where I can go to fish off the shore (anytime of day/night) and what I can expect to catch. Also what should I be using out here. I've tried worms, minnows, liver (boyfriend caught a few catfish w/that), and plastics. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can give me.

Hi Suzie

I fish grapevine frequently, but from a boat. some of the guys over on the bank fishing forumn might have more info for you, but I would say that Silverlake is generally a pretty good spot - red colored plastic worms are always good for LMB at grapevine - especially on some of the secondary points there at that cove you are fishing...On the other side of the lake, Twin Coves Park is a very popular spot as well...also, chrome and blue rattle traps are good at catching LMB and Sand Bass all around the lake....for crappie and catfish, Marshall Creek Park on the far end of the lake is pretty good as well, but a far drive (depending on where you're coming from)

hope this helps

Thank you so much! I'll try out a couple of those spots as well as the tackle you suggested. I live right by the Opryland they are building so will check on the drive to Marshall Creek park. Thanks again!

SusieQ,
You may also try Murrell Park which is on the other side of the lake from you.
I used to hit the main point there in the summer time at lunch and catch bass on topwaters. Also, that's a prime hang out for sandies.
Good Luck

If I were bank fishing the fiest place I would go would be the east side of the murrel park area looking out toward the island there is a good drop off not far from the bank and I have seen a lot of sandy caught there from the bank and wade fishing, there is also a good cove back to the north that you can walk the bank and fish off of,also twin coves has a lot of good bank access with deep water close to shore, good luck and leave a post of when you fish if its during the week I maybe able to take you with one day if you are interested I fish mostly for crappie but will chase the sand bass sometimes.

Skeeter175 - thanks so much for the offer - I'll take you up on that. What times/days are best for you next week? I'm house hunting the rest of this week but will be hitting the banks next week. I work at nights mostly so go early afternoon or very late (1 am).

SusieQ-you never siad what you like to fish for the most but for sandbass right now is a good time to be fishing for them and I will most likly be out there tue.into the early afternoon(my boy has a baseball game @6;30),as for crappie I have caught a lot of them latley but they have been dinks for the most part and it will probably be awhile before the big ones head deep which is where I like to fish for them,I will try to post mon.evening and let you know if I am going to grapevine or not as I may be going to bridgeport instead.
