What advantages does a spin cast have over a bait cast, etc?

Spinning reels are easier to learn how to use. Other than that bait casters excel in just about everything.

You have to decide which is more important.

It all depends on what technique you are using. For example drop shoting with a spinning reel is far more easier than a bait cast and its easier to let your bait fall with a spinning reel than a baitcast. On the other hand the baitcast is the workhorse of all reels espicially for a bass fisherman. And a spincast is the best reel to get if you are teaching a child or a beginner how to fish.

Like a Marine and his rifle there is nothing deadlier than a fisherman and his rod
