I have fished RC twice this week. The crappie are HUGE this year!! Shad are starting to move into the coves and the crappie have been following the last few days.

Not much of a early bite, but by 10 am they were pretty active. I fished with friends both days and I fished 1/4 oz jigs with pink bodies while they fished live minnows. Minnows-0 Jigs-14. Instead of last years poor start with small fish, this year I have not had an undersized crappie yet. (knock on wood!!)

The crappie are very fat and the smallest was 12 inches and most were a very solid 13 to 14.5. The docks seems to be holding them right now and have had only a few around stumps. The magic depth for me today was 2' to 6' deep around the docks. Didn't take a camera today, but will resolve that on the next trip. The bite was gone by 2 pm.

I am really excited about this year being a great crappie year on RC. I typically don't fish the creeks, so someone else will have to chime in there.

Hopefully the wind won't be too bad and everyone can get out and have a great time.

Stop by and say hi anytime. I am always happy to chat a few minutes. Feel free to give me a call too, my number listed is my cell.

This is the first year in a while that I have actually been excited about the crappie possibilities!
