How has the bank fishing been for everyone ?
I have gone to my little spot at Lewisville and have pretty much been blanked. It is too gosh darn hot after 10:00am and I think the water may be a bit too warm shallow and close to shore. I have been taking the little one to one of the park ponds here in Denton but these poor fish are too small to catch.....:-(
Just wonderin'

My son and I kind of gave up on bank fishing for now. To hot, no bites. WE did hook up with someone for the sandbass tourny on LL on the 20th. We might try the night fishing, but after a full day at work I an worn out.

Havnt been doing too well round here either everything is real slow

Went out tuesday night with my neighbor to fish for some cats . Got to the lake around 9pm and setup with the lanterns and everything , got all the cats poles casted out so i decided to throw a lil rattle trap out and ended up catching a lil 13 inch bass

That was my only fish of the night unless you count the one perch and 2 inch shad i caught in my cast net . Had 3 cottonmouths swimming around right where we were fishing at also

My neighbor was reeling in one of the poles to go home when he says theres a fish on the other end , of course i dont believe him cause the pole aint even bent and he is just reeling it in like theres nothing there . Bout the time i say theres no fish on that pole he brings in a damned gar and swings it right up to my feet * Im going to get you next time josh * .

Anyways he wanted to take the damn thing home and i didnt cause i know the minute my mom saw that thing out in the garage she would have woken up the whole neighhborhood . Anyways that gar was some of best damn meat ive had in a long time and the next time i catch / snag one im bringing him home to eat

Gar is good? Damn i know I shoulda tried for one of those tonight. The crappie was tasty though. Gar were surfacing like mad around us. As for the bank fishing the roughfish have been good. We got 5 buffalo over 20lbs on Sat 7/23 and a few carp too the same trip. Carp we get pretty often on Grapevine. Even if they are only in the 10lb range some trips. Also the channel cats have been good on grapevine. Heres a link to our last big fish day.

Hell yeah gar is good , the meat tastes just like catfish and tastes a lil bit cleaner if you ask me . It is a lil tough like chicken but it is still very good , all you need is a pair of tin snips to cut thru the skin they have
