I had a ideal of seeing how many would be interested in fishing in senior tournaments age 62 and over. I love to bass fish and meeting new people. I don't feel I have the competitive edge to fish against these young guys anymore.
I was thinking maybe trying to get something started around the Metro Mess. Monthly tournanments with a $15 to $20 entry fee and 100% payback so us older folks on fixed income could afford to have chance to meet other anglers and have a chance to win a little money back.
Have 6hr tournaments on lakes within 125 miles of Dallas/Fort Worth.

my club started having a thurs morning tourny at palestine last year, went really well with both old guys, young guys, shift workers, and retired guys. Give it a shot, we will be starting ours up again in april, due to the fact March is pretty full for the ones of us who run it

I am afraid if I wait till 62 someone will have to wheel me onto the boat and add a portapotty to the livewell. LOL If I knew how painful 53 was gonna be I would have slowed down in my 30's. If I ever get out of this metromess and down to Fork I plan on having some weekday fun tournys. Breakfast @ 6:00am first cast at 6:30am and hit the scales at noon then off to lunch and then a nap. 55 and up Build it they will come.

I'm into a more laid-back type of lifestyle. Competition brings on a certain amount of stress, and expense, which I really shouldn't be involved in, should not be even thinking about, not thinking about, not even. But, meeting senior fishers would be good, sounds good. But, I'm down here in sleepy San Antone.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

Interesting, but at that age crappie fishing seems to be the trend.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

Interesting, but at that age crappie fishing seems to be the trend. Lets don't get too carried away now. I know a lot of seniors that are still bass fishing and doing fine with it. I just spent 3 days at Amistad and went straight to Falcon for 5 days. Fished Falcon with 2 other Seniors (all 63+) and we did just fine. Lots of things change as we age. My desire to fish has decreased at all. I probably do not make as many casts in a day as I use to but I still put in a full day fishing. I don't run as hard as I once did, and I do not fish in 40 mph winds just to show how tough I am (with age comes a certain degree of wisdom). As we age I believe we become more relaxed with our fishing and get more enjoyment out of it. Maybe we could get a San Antonio team of old farts to have a friendly little contest with the Metro old farts. Course I think it should be held at Falcon...........

I just threw 62 as a starter, with enough support we could do 55 and over. It is just to see how many might support a senior tournaments. If enough people say 55 and older would be interested we could all get together on an area lake for a little fun tournament and then discuss all the details and everyone's ideal and input after the tournament.

There's a new club that started in Forney for those 60 and over. I don't know much about it since I'm not old enough but if you are seriously interested, shoot me a pm and I'll give you a telephone number of a guy who is in it.
