Thinking of going and checking it out this weekend. Only thing I can find on it is on google earth. Looks like it has docks and some good points. Anybody know anything about it?

Real good lake. Fish the cove on the southwest with a white spinnerbait and shallow cranks and a green pumpkin little otter...

what are the slot limits on that lake?
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know when to go fishing.

cant imagine it has alot of water but i havent seen it for a while either.. loved that lake when it had water.. It looked almost full when I stopped by Sunday afternoon, but the wind was blowing hard so it was difficult to tell. From what I understand it re-filled in 2007. They stocked it in 08&09 with bass, cats, and bluegill, it even got almost 40,000 share-a-lunker fingerlings in '08. To my way of thinking the stocking along with the slot (14"-18") it should be a pretty good fishery. More info can be found here http://www.lakesweetwater.com/forums/The bait shop has a tourny every Thursday night starting March 17th 6-9pm. I'll be on vacation that week and I'm planning on fishing it. It will be my first tourny.

cant imagine it has alot of water but i havent seen it for a while either.. loved that lake when it had water.. Tropical Storm Erin refilled it in late 2007. TP&W started restocking a few months later and has been working on it ever since. The thursday night tournaments in 2010 were usually won by bass in the 18 1/2 to 19 1/2 inch range. See LakeSweetwater.com for more info and tournament photos. The lake is 8 feet down as of 2 March 2011, but that is still a good amount of water for Lake Sweetwater. Bait shop is open and the public ramps are in great shape. Sweetwater extended/deepended the ramps while the lake was dry and put in a new courtesy dock after it refilled.
Best regards, Major H

Water is drawn from Oak Creek for use in Sweetwater, Nolan County, and several small towns in Taylor County, but they don't put any of it into Lake Sweetwater. The Lake Sweetwater fans wish they would/could.

Lake Sweetwater has docks, timber, cat tails, points, drop offs, and flats. It's very diverse and fishes a lot bigger than it looks. In 2008 when the TPWD stocked it with the Sharelunker fry, it was the biggest stocking of them to that date (according to the website). I think several other lakes have received more than that since then. If people are catching 3's and 6's already, I can't wait to see what it will be like in the next several years. I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised when you get on the water there. Let us know how it goes this weekend.
