We decided to try Craven last night... I had this place described to me as the place you're guaranteed to catching something.

It's actually a darn shame what a bunch of people have done to this little pond. It's full of catfish and sunfish, but also full of trash.

The kids had fun though! Ethan (now dubbed Catfish Boy) caught six HUGE catfish (okay, a six in catfish is enormous to a five year old), and Natalie (henceforth named Turtle Lady) caught a catfish, a sunfish, and three enormous turtles. We were using hotdogs, and tiny hooks. We went again today, and only 1 catfish, caught by the catfish boy, but TONS of sunfish.

The pond is unfortunately filthy, and even if you caught anything of any size, I'd recommend throwing it back, its a lot of fun for the kids.

BTW - You can find directions to Craven Park in Arlington easily online. The little pond is behind the baseball diamond. You have to park and just follow the paved path.

The pond on esters has bass, catfish and nice brem fishing. I take my 2 boys there all the time and they really enjoy all the fish they catch. I am more busy with taking fish off the line and helping re-bait hooks. Lots of fun for the little ones.

LOL... I use to live over there! We haven't been out to Irving in a long time - gas is just too much! That's good info! We'll have to check it out!

Another place - Veteran's Memorial Park in White Settlement - its clean and nice, but we didn't catch anything but bream. But, the kids still had fun, and I had several people telling me that they'd done well out there. It may just be overfished.

What size bream are you all catching at these ponds? Any big ones?
