I'm in the process of (trying) to organize a bank fishing tournament for us "bankies". Won't be anything big, just a few anglers kicking back, trying to catch some fish. Should be fun though! Here's some of the rough ideas so far:
1) 100% of the entry fee goes to the pot. 2) Entry fee will be very low, probably in the $5.00-$20.00 range. 3) No more than 3 rods per team. 4) 8 hour session. 7:00am to 3:00pm. 5) Each fish caught will be weighed by someone and then released. 6) Payouts for heaviest total weight (probably 1st-5th) and biggest fish. 7) Any fish species counts!! Hey, we're bank fishing after all!
If you would like to contribute some ideas to this event or would like to kept up to date on the progress, please email me at: dmunsie@NOSPAMyahoo.com (Remove the NOSPAM to email me.) Thanks!

"pot" very funny! What you do BEFORE the event is your business. Fish wise, I'm trying to make it a "any fish species" event. At the end of the session we'll just add up the total pounds and see who the winners are. Makes it easy and fun enough.

Yah, that's a good drive to the DFW area for you. Looks like the location will more than likely be in one of the DFW area lakes or rivers. Hopefully you'll be able to make it!

I'm assuming that live bait can be used if we can use three poles, right?

Any "legal" bait as determined by the fishing regulations manual. Looks like we have around 6-10 anglers so far, this should be fun!

Thanks for all the input!
Let's try to stablize where the location to fish at will be.
So far the reccomendations for fishing venues coming in are:
Lake Arlington White Rock Lake, Dallas Trinity River FT.Worth / Tandy Center.
Remember, the location needs to have plenty of flat open bank access for easy setup and landing of fish. Plus, decent access to facilites such as food, bathroom, hotels too!
Let's here some comments on the above 3, or please post your other suggestion here. Thanks!

This sounds like a good idea. Count me in. I also have a friend who would like to participate. Is it 3 poles per person or team

Any number of people can be a team. Most of us will either be 1 or 2 man teams. However, each TEAM will be limited to a total number of 3 rods. Each team will have to pay 1 entry fee. So for you 2 man teams you just divide the entry fee in half for each of ya. I'll be out of town till Next Friday, I'll update this thread on Friday. I scouted White Rock Lake this weekend, looks good!
