If you had $2000.00 to purchace a new SI unit, which unit would you purchase?
For those of you who have SI units, do you mount the display up front where you can see it while fishing, or do you mount it by seat to see it while trolling around?
Thanks for your replies.

I would recommend mounting it on the console. That way you can drive around and find your laydowns or schools of fish. Then you can throw a bouy and fish with your regular 2d graph on the bow. Unless your lucky enough to have two si units on your boat. All my boats now have si units on them and they all are on the console where we would use them the most. Once we find the spot were fishning we dont need it anymore.

I fish with Evan O'Brien, the realtor(cheap plug for him) all the time, and he has his SI ram mounted at the console and spins it around if he wants to check it out while up on the front of the boat fishing...

A lot of these guides like Chuck can really open your eyes to the features these graphs have to make you a better structure angler.

I do the same, mounted on side of boat near shifter, spin in around when I want to. Also, I keep 4 markers next to me and drop them when I see drops, stumps, etc. then use X135 in front to fish them. Go out with someone and watch one in action. Bigger screen is always better and the user friendly setup is great. HBird service is unparalled. I was leaning toward 900 series but once I had that much saved figured I would go for 1100.

I'd go with the 1100 series if possible, 900 series if not.. Also, there is nothing wrong with the 700 series, but you will be squinting and will wish you would've gotten a bigger screen. You can also slow your chart speed down on your unit to get a clearer picture on SI while on the trolling motor.. I made a pass down a stretch on Hubbard the other day and didn't get a sniff.. I happened to look at the SI and could see fish and I turned around and made a cast out of the opposite side of the boat and hooked up two casts in a row.
