It doesn't help after the ticket, but before the cop writes the ticket request a change of venue. That way you can attend your local court and have a great chance of the cop not coming to your town.
This probably won't work if you get pulled over in the next town (like if you live in Sachse and get pulled over in Wylie) but if you live 3 or 4 towns away it's a good bet.
I have one friend that tried that in Garland and the cop said he'd just come to Wylie, but otherwise the 2 of us have used that in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Colorado with great success. YOU HAVE TO ASK BEFORE THE OFFICER STARTS WRITING UP THE TICKET.
The tickets are easy money for the city, if you make it hard to collect there's no real benefit for them to pursue it. I'm talking about minor offenses here...not sure it's gonna work for some crazy felony charge, wreckless endangerment, dui, etc....but for 5 or 10 over the limit you should be good.
I am not a lawyer.....your mileage may vary, and at your own risk.

Watch out for the corrupt cops in Little Elm. I have Pre-Paid Legal and they have won only one case in the Little Elm court.

My fail proof way of getting out of a ticket is to not speed! Or at least be smart about where I speed. LOL.

There is now an insurance verification system that will return your insurance status when the officer runs your information. There are some cases where the system doesn't have the information...

Was really awesome reading about tickets. It makes me want to go out and write more. And for that reason I will all ways go to the judge and fight. I cant say what happens in Texas but it the past ANY ticket I have got and showed up and fight for has been reduced even if its one point off its worth it in the long run. Thats not to say that I might have been speeding LOL

I don't have any problem with people fighting any citation I write, it's their right to contest it (of course, I always show up and haven't lost one yet. If I lost all the time it would be frustrating . What I laugh about is the folks who send a lawyer to fight citations, and all the lawyer does is talk to the judge, enter a no contest plea, then asks for deferred adjudication and a lowering of the fine. Then goes to back to their client and says Hey! Look what I did for you! By the way you owe X amount of dollars now. I know I'm new to the forum but take this advice for what it's worth. If you get a ticket and your dead to rights, and you just don't want the ticket on your record, go into the court and speak with one of the court clerks. Ask for deferred adjudication (a process in where the ticket will be dropped from your driving history so long as you aren't found guilty of another traffic offense for the next 90 days) and offer to pay a portion of the fine then and there. It does the same thing a lawyer will charge you to do and you can do it all by yourself. Makes for a very streamlined process.

Chief Wiggum: This is Papa Bear. Put out an APB for a male suspect, driving a... car of some sort, heading in the direction of, uh, you know, that place that sells chili. Suspect is hatless. Repeat, hatless.

I value my time and I am sure other does as well. I'm not going to go fight in some hick cow-town court that generates a huge amount of its revenue by writing traffic tickets.
I will gladly pay a lawyer to take care of this for me (request DA and a reduced fine)regardless if I am guilty or not.
