These ridicuously high fuel prices are what crippled us at the end of 2007 beginning of 2008. About the time that the stock market starts healing itself OPEC sticks it to us again. Anyone that doesn't think that over inflated fuel prices will cripple our economy is crazy. They waited till we were just about broke the last time before the prices started coming down. These phuckers can bankrupt us by over inflating our societies life blood! But I blame our Govt for these prices, we have crippled ourselves by making us solely reliant on foreign oil, and Obama and his beliefs is even worse than the EPA. Theres no smart investment in drilling for oil in and around the United States anymore, its just too much easier to do it elsewhere without all the liberal hippie epa bullchit!

all you have to do is turn in the "offroad tax form" to Texas
And they refund you the 20 cent per gallon "road tax"

That's what they do in China.

Three comments-

#1- The fishing industry does very well in a down economy when people stay closer to home instead of taking Disney World vacations. The boating industry- not so much when fuel goes through the roof, and I do feel for those folks that will probably be suffering through this next downturn.

#2- We all love fishing, but the vast majority of the fishermen I know don't feel so strongly about tourneys. It wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if they limited tournament boats to 25 HP motors and 20 gallons of fuel for the day. Yes, they'd have a harder time selling $75K rigs but maybe that's not a bad thing.

#3- You can't have "big brother" carefully controlling the price of gasoline (as you commended skeeter151 for posting) while "staying out of the way" (as you suggest).

#1 you are so correct. I remember how well the fishing industry boomed in 2008 and 2009 must have been hundreds of new lure manufatures, line manufactures, rod and reels, new bait companies, and saw thousands of new hotels and restaruants coming up around the lakes.

#2 Regardless of wether you like tourneys they bring in revenue for local business around lakes - ask any chamber of commerce around a big lake like Amistad, falcon or another one. Also, even the ones who do not like tournaments are still vastly impacted. Most people do not live near a lake and just driving there will be a costly adventure to bank fish with $4-$5 a gallon gas that is not necessary. Also, what about all the people who work in the boating industry - you may not like the $75,000 rigs out there, but the people building them will lose thier jobs - take a look at a few boat lines out there like Champion, Triton - I could name a few more.

#3. The start of my statement was commenting on Skeeters 151 comment about oil avialability. You are correct I should have only quated part of what Skeeter was saying - I was being lazy and only clicked on the quote button. I think Big Bother has put nothing but a road blocks in place of the USA being self sufficient when it comes to energy needs if you disagree, lete me know your argument.

Appreciate the thoughts - As stated I was just giving my .02 on my soap box.

That would be 100% un-American.

How can you fault someone for making a profit? If you ran a business you would do whatever you could to make maximum profit. If you tell me you would run your business to make the public happy, not to make as much money as possible, I will call you a liar.

You all can expect robberies and theft to be on the rise. Your trucks will be broken into at the boat ramp, your boats while you at work and asleep in the hotel room.
This rise in fuel may not mean much to you guys making 50k+, but for the rest of the majority making 20k or less, they WILL be finding a way to make up the difference these raise in fuel prices will make for them.
I once told a man I would never steal unless I have exhausted every means possible to feed my family. If all attempts fail, you better lock up your shet, cause I am coming for it!

If you don't agree with me, tell your wife you don't have any money to feed the family the next three days, like many Americans do every single day. On day 2 and 3, see if you are not ready to kill for money for food.

Bob Sandlin is 8 minutes from house. I'll just keep picking apart that lake and learning how find the fish shallow and deep. Barely have time to get on plane before shutting down at my favorite hole smile I feel for those who have to drive a long way or your tournament fishermen. Here's hoping we find some HUGE RESERVE here in Texas as big as the Middle East. Doesn't hurt to hope!!!!

Wall Street could care less for the "little people"
How come no one complains about investment firms making billions of dollars in profit? Remember they are the ones that caused all the problems today.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway reported a 43 percent jump in fourth-quarter earnings Saturday largely because of strong performance at its railroad business and a paper gain of $1.4 billion on the company's derivative contracts and investments.

Buffett said in his annual letter to shareholders that the purchase of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad was Berkshire's highlight of 2010.

Berkshire reported net income of $4.38 billion, or $2,656 per share of its primary, Class A stock, which carries more voting power than Class B shares. That's up from the $3.1 billion net income, or $1,969 per Class A share, a year ago. It's also higher than the $1,695 per Class A share expected by analysts surveyed by FactSet.

I have always worked 80 to 100 hours a week , if I wasn't paying $ 15,000 a year in income tax so the government can redistribute it to people who refuse to work , I'd have plenty of gas money

You have to get the Liberals out of the way before any serious drilling and gas production can happen here. By then it may be too late. Drilling here in earnest should have started in the 70's and yet we still don't because of the idiots in charge.

Really? I am no liberal but the fact is the Bush administration and their buddies are the ones lining their pockets since 2006 when we all bent over.
