LSS-1 and HDS 8 on a G3? #5890185 02/25/11 05:03 PM

Just got my LSS-1 and HDS 8 that I am putting on my 1860 CC G3 aluminum boat. Running a 90 2-stroke Yamaha without a jack plate. Have HDS on a ram mount on the console and trying to figure out transducer placement.

Anyone have pics of transducer placement that works well on a G3?

Thinking about using a poly pad or stern mate to mount my ducers on. Obviously the skimmer for the HDS needs to be even with the hull and not behind a rib/chine. Was sort of wanting to get the LSS 'ducer up a little higher to minimize impacts from stumps/logs (fish and duck hunt in some nasty areas) as I am a little worried about ruinning the 'ducer and they are expensive to replace!

thoughts, advice and pictures appreciated.

Mount your equipment separately or mount them both on SternMateDUO™. Either way that works for you, mount your LSS-1 for protection above your running surface and below your at rest loaded waterline. You can most likely do that by mounting both on SternMateDUO™ by simply sliding it vertically above the running surface. Your high speed transducer optimization, of course, will benefit by moving it correctly aft.

thanks Capt. Chris -
I have heard that you should try and mount the LSS 'ducer as close to the center as possible. I notice on your picture that the LSS 'ducer is outside your high speed 'ducer. Make any difference really?

The biggest concern that I can think of is not getting interference from the motor's lower unit. You might go to bassboat central and check out the installs they have pinned at the top of the lowrance forum.

The photo is used for demonstration purposes only. Our SternMate™ equipment is quite universal and can be configured to suit most all mounting requirements for high speed and the imaging equipment. Actually, by following the basic transducer mounting rules, one boat model to the next really presents no particular mounting challenge, unless maybe things just won't fit.
