Benbrook is a terrible lake to fish when the wind is blowing, however, I live close to that lake and fish it a few times a year and always catch at least one or two big fish a year out of that lake.It is not a numbers lake but for some reason almost everyone I talked to last year that fished it a few times they caught their PB for the year out of that lake including me.My fishing partners don't want to fish with me on that lake as they call it the dead sea.My rational for fishing that lake is there is alot of baitfish and not alot of bass so the ones there have alot to eat and not much fishing pressure which allows the ones left the opportunity to get old. Also the the water level was so low that for the last two years you couldn't launch a boat.

I hope that a few fishermen will give Benbook a chance that normally fish Granbury as the GA at Granbury may have wiped out the fish there. That really is a shame as Granbury was ready to produce some big fish again.I lived on Granbury in 2001 when the GA hit then and it has taken that lake 10 yeas to come back and it is really sad about the reports of all the dead fish everywhere.

I fish Benbrook because its <15 mins to the boat ramp from the house. She is a harsh mistress, and I have been known to shout "Benbrook!" when I hit my thumb with a hammer.

I feel the same way. Most times I curse myself that I was lazy and didn't want to drive more than 10 minutes to fish a lake but sometimes if I just have a couple of hours to fish I go there. If I ever fished it all day the same as fishing a lake that I would go drive to for the weekend I might be surprised or maybe not.I have been skunked at Fork and it didn't cost me near as much to get skunked at Benbrook.
