Between Park and FM544 on Los Rios, there is a Golf Course....Los Rios Country Club or something I think it is....There are a couple of really sweet looking ponds. What are the rules about fishing on a golf course? Are they considered private, so you would have to have written permission from the country club? Has anybody tried to get permission and/or fished these ponds?

Not sure, but I would imagine that you have to aske their permission. I use to play at Canyon Creek Country Club and I would always see guys fishing a creek that ran through the course.

I have fished that pond and let me tell you there is nothing in them worth getting caught for. The flooding of rowlett creek have taking many fish out of there. Don't waste your time.

Varies from course to course! I have been told by several fishing buddies that the Columbian Country club in Carrollton shuts down every Monday for fairway and green maintenance, and that the ponds are open game for fishermen. I have fished LB Houston Municipal course in Dallas, "after hours" and done well on bass and crappie. Probably the best go is to wander into the clubhouse and talk to the Grand Poobah in charge of the joint!

Howdy! I live very close to the Los Rios Golf Course and I have never, never seen anyone fishing the ponds there. I personally wouldn't want to try it...the place is either packed with golfers or groundskeepers. The egrets, however, seem to love the ponds there I just have a feeling that they aren't exactly 'angler friendly.' Go north on Los Rios, past Park and try Plano E. Sr. High.

Oh, I forgot to mention...the one golf course pond that DOES look pretty darn interesting is on the west side of I-75, just north of Spring Creek. It's next to the movie cinemas. I've seen several fellers over there...I haven't tried it, but want to.

Bass - My gf goes to PESH. (Poor thing is 18 and still in high school...won't officially graduate till she's 20!) Anyway, she sees huge catfish in there all the time, we went and fished both ponds for a little while one night, caught a lot of bass, all around a pound or so, and a few large bluegill. Any idea what else is in there? Size of fish? Bass, channel cat, bluegill...and...anything else? Crappie, carp, whatever, any idea?

I am a PSHS alumni. Class o' 81. Never fished the duck pond there but I swam in it once. It was tradition at that time to initiate the new juniors by "showing" them the duck pond...by tossing them in! Back then that was called "Good Fun", now days thats called a lawsuit.

What about fishing the Los Rios golf course at night? One thing I've found about golf course ponds is that one pond may provide no bites, the next pond nothing, the next pond nothing, then suddenly at the next pond plenty of bites and sometimes some good fish. Found also that sometimes there is a "magical end" of one of the good ponds where every cast provides a bass.
